The other is in the bathroom down stairs

I’d probably bite the bullet and find a good specialist with commercial pex not the big box store stuff. It’s the first thing the guy did who bought our river house.

Probably a stupid question here but how do they re-pipe through a cement slab?

After the 3rd slab leak at my parents house they re-piped the house over head, to answer your question they open the slab fix the leak and patch the slab.

Abandon the old pipe under the slab and run a new plastic (Pex is the common name) type up through the attic and then down the walls to the fixtures in the kitchen, baths, laundry, water heater etc.

As to OP original question I’d be thinking seriously about re route. Too many breaks to be an “unlucky” spot .

Remember- reroute quotes are normally for only one side of the water (whichever is leaking—- normally the hot side). Some people are surprised when they don’t wind up with all new water lines.

Call repipe 1 the just did my buddy's house and they did the drywall repair. I thought it was a reasonable price around 5 grand for 1 story house 2 bath and kitchen water heater. Sorry I don't have their number but Google does

No
I’m feeling like why have ins .
They will only over and damage from a leak not the repair. Then you have a deductible

Vegas price fo whole house repipe is around $5-9K depending. If doing main lines to a manifold, make sure they put the manifold over a tub or shower. Most likely place for a future leak and minimal damage if so.

Price is hard to guess not knowing how many fixtures and more details. I have not met 6 Balls but a few OG members have had his crew repipe there homes. It's one of those things that a referral is much more of a deciding factor than a price. If you were local to me I have a few plumber friends that would give you a second bid.

I have underslab leaks in the waste plumbing, which is 40 year old cast iron. The acidic clays and wet conditions rust out the piping. Expansion and contraction of the clay fracture the weakened piping. The solution is a repipe using PVC, which is a combination of tunneling under the house from the perimeter for interior locations, and excavating at the perimeter for locations near it and running a new drain line along the foundation back to the existing lateral going to the street.

Prior to fixing the plumbing, I have to install 44 steel piers around the house, because of the same clay soil issues. My house has numerous cracks in the drywall around door and window openings due of this, which will also need to be repaired.

This shit is gonna be expensive. The piers will cost $18,000, the plumbing $22,000, and the drywall and paint $14,000. That's $54,000 for something that doesn't make the house updated or larger. It does affect the value of the house. The difference in sales price for leaving it as is or doing the repairs is about $75,000, and since we're going to sell the house when I turn 65 in two years, it makes sense to do it now.

Fortunately the housing market has pretty much stabilized in Plano, with monthly price increases of about 5% over a year before. The contractors aren't as busy, and I can probably cut 10-15% off of the prices above, which was quoted a year ago.

When it's all done, I also have to hire a landscaper to install a drip irrigation system around the perimeter of the house, to maintain a constant moisture level. That'll prevent the soil expansion and contraction from doing damage again.

Yay.

I used Mike Pond Xtreme plumbing for my house in La Verne. I was doing a full gut at the time so finish work was not needed.

I did my apprentice for a company (Pinkham) out of PV, back in another lifetime. Re-piped most of the units in a development in Torrance. Old galvanized pipe. Every unit, 2 story, 3 bedroom, 2 bath townhomes, were identical or mirror images of each other. It got to the point where we put together pre-cut packages of copper and fittings, so we could just go in poke holes run/sweat pipe, hook up and on to the next. Two of us could knock out 2 units a day. And that included putting the bottle of Jack in the front seat of the building inspector's truck.

Everyone should learn basic plumbing. In nearly 50 years of adulting, I've never had the need to hire a plumber for anything. Probably saved $$$ in the upper 5 figures or more. Not to mention the aggravation, since most plumbing issues show up after hours, weekends or on holidays.

I'll admit I know squat about PEX or other plastic pipes (except PVC/ABS and mobile home applications), and would still use copper for water supply. Maybe I'm old school, but I trust it more than plastic.

I just went through this December 24 ,water pouring out from under my dishwasher.Turns out it was a slab leak. American leak detection did the work . re-pipped with red pex through the first floor ceiling (two story house) Baja drywall repaired the drywall better than original. Farmers insurance covered everything !

Geez I can’t believe the delta between “homeowner rates” and “contractor rates”.

Yeah I know it’s easier to do the work when the house is gutted, vs someone living there.

$10k-$22k to repipe a house?
Yikes!

Yep, it all comes down to risk and head aches.

When you deal with the same guy, he is easy to deal with and pays on time, its easy.

Where as home owers are always a wild card.

When I Sub out work they are getting paid when they ask not chasing money. Few years of dealing with homeowners and I so miss building specs and doing flips in house. I have 30k or so owed now and works been completed weeks ago. I already paid everyone just waiting on the home owners to pay. I have another homeowner who always offers to pay another check when I see him. Makes life so much easier working for him. Great customers are worth there weight in gold.

As far as pricing i imagine those numbers include patch work. Not just plumbing.

I think @Cole Trickle had someone from the boards do his place within the last year or two... I remember a thread on it. Maybe he can chime in...

If they “just go”, that’s news to me. Back in the day they posted suicide threads so people would know they are gone and miss them.

would it be because you emptied out all the guys on here?

...and the ladies.
