I usually do work for 5 consistently up to 10 clients every month.

November was uncharacteristically slow this year, half, or worse, than normal, and December is off to a bad start so far. I paid to show up last month and it looks like I am paying to show up for at least the first two weeks of December.

Normally December is fairly good for me since people are doing parts to build inventory and spend excess cash. But those parts are usually ordered by November so they can be on the shelf by the end of December. So I am gathering that isn't happening this year.

When I check up on my clients, peeps are saying the same thing I am, sales just aren't there.

I even spent a week to SEMA this year and talked to 15 companies I figured I would get something from 2 or 3, I have gotten some good feedback on components, but so far nothing has panned.

I am just looking for some info from you guys out there. Scary to consider I am thinking about going and getting me a j-o-b.

Our November was ridiculously slow...gave us the opportunity to get caught up though. we were worried December was going to look the same but the cold weather took care of that. we have historically beaten the last year numbers by far every month except November of this year. We have noticed that many of competitors seem to have most of their fleets parked at their offices so that shows me that things can be much worse.

What kind of parts do you do?
Last thread I saw you start, you had to keep all the machine porn on the hush hush...

Maybe there's someone here looking for a job shop, or a new job shop to try out..

We are busy so it's nice to get to pick and choose the type of clients we would like to work with. Hired a new accountant a couple of months ago to help out. Lots of year end tax planning and projections going on right now.

The 1st week qnd last week of nov were nuts.

December I have 2 houses that I am hopeful we can get to paint.

It was a very odd year, the months I am normally the slowest are going to be my most profitable.

I only made $1000 inAugust, made 12 in nov, look like dec is going to be about 40. Witch will be about half my income on the year.

Been very, very strange.

November was about average. 5% over last year, but nothing record setting. It's far too early in December to say anything yet. Overall, it's been another good year, but still behind where I want to be.

Commercial construction bidding in San Diego has been a little slow over the last month. Not sure if election related or not. Overall the year has been very good and have a good amount of back log for next year.

For what? Trippling my health care costs? Doubling my workmens comp rate while he was in office? In creasing buildingmaterials by more then double?

Or writing the most expensive and overbaring remodel construction laws todate?

When he was a senator he wrote the lead control laws, that made it almost impossible to do basic jobs and or increase the cost by many, many times over?

If you have a house built before 78 and you want me too install a towel bar in your bathroom. To do all legal steps for lead control, would take 6 hours and cost uou $1000. Or I could come by during my lunch break and in 10 mins and $20 just do it.

You can't even legally power wash a home if its older tghen 78 unless its certified lead free.

November was really busy for me, I had 3 customers take delivery on new machines, 2 okumas and 1 makino. I got all the workholding and toolholding for all 3 machines. that alone made my month and then some:). December, I think its to early to tell. I have some customers who are running skeleton crews on reduced hours, and others running 24-7. last year, I had one of my largest customers call me on December 20th, and told me to charge his credit card for 20 grand:yikes. when I asked for what, he told me to burn his budget so he can bargain for more next year. I don't think I will have that this year, but my big aerospace guys are running flat out and not showing any signs of slowing down. I hope it holds out.

I do whatever CS.

I do various little widgets, to 2 foot x 4 foot 3 in thk steel plates, to parts for OE's. Whatever pays the bills.

Pretty much whoever needs parts made as well as parts I manufacture of my own.

I do a lot of NDA parts.

Hopefully a few people out there.....:)

4th Quarter hasn't been too bad for us, looks like we will end the year on a good note and we already have clients under contract with closings in January. I am already looking at February 2017.

My business is cleaning toilets....and everything else you find in an office. We're the guys that come through your offices at night and raid your cubicle (not really, but us and security are the first blamed:yikes).
We've been on an upswing for the past few years. The entertainment indusrty is going gangbusters, the car dealerships still haven't recovered though. If a business is spending money on office cleaning, they're feeling pretty good about the climate. Anytime I get a new account, if they're publicly traded, I take a position with them, it's good karma.
We're on track for record sales in 2017 and that's after 35 years in business. I hope good things for everyone else!

My business is up nearly every month, about 400% since May. I would like to thank prop 47 and now 55, for the primary reason. Companies are getting hurt in losses due to theft, etc., all related to meth and other government supported Obama phone types. They are holding up, but had to adjust as there internal full time loss managers cannot keep up. A bit too busy for me so I have a few of Santa's helpers carrying the baggage.

Helicopter business is good. Finally got more rain. Need cattle prices to come up. Oil prices are on the move again. That's good for the mailbox checks. Very blessed this year. IMG_0790.JPG

I didn't do one job in October, nothing!

Just a few days after the election I had two shops calling. One was a 40 ft v bottom and getting big power....and they have another 40 to do right after.:thumbsup
The other, as back to back 27-28 footers.
Christmas will not suck this year, other than not having enough time to enjoy the holiday.

Much of our software is term leased, so we are really more on a 5 year cycle when comparing, month to month doesn't mean much. However, at the end of the calendar year and European fiscal year, there is usually a hockey stick curve on the graph as companies choose to spend budget before it expires. Oil and gas being most of our business, the slight recovery we experience as consumers will not be felt for us for a few years to come if it keeps up, and on that note, with some customers, this down turn for the past two years hasn't hit their renewal cycle so more pain is in the mail in the future as wel :grumble: On the cornhole hobby garage business, not as much action as the past two years for December, but frankly I don't mind as I don't think I would have been able to handle any more than what I have committed to already. 2 more weeks and on vacation from real job, I am counting the days :D

I was at RSNA last week in Chicago. Smallest show and crowd I've seen in 30 years in the medical equipment business.

Our golf cart business in northern CA has been booming all year. We opened a 2nd location earlier this year and will open our 3rd location in mid January. Our biggest problem is finding employees who actually want to work for a paycheck. My wife is an architect with a large company and they are crazy busy.

HVAC is booming but profits are down due to so many employees going on our group insurance which is 10% of our gross sales for the year. That really cuts into the profit margin.

We've adjusted our rates & overhead so profits should be better for 2017. Fucking Obamacare hurt bad! Now we'll just pass those costs on to the consumers so it will hurt them & that sucks too.

Very busy here. Remodeling, mostly residential. We used to do exclusively bank REO rehabs, but those are down from 45 a month to 1 or 2. Doing room additions, kitchens, bathrooms, showers, etc.

Started doing Landscape work and that is picking up. Lots of folks taking out lawns and putting in decorative gravel and stone instead.

We get a few mold remediation projects every month as well. Also picked up a $14,000 trash out. A hoarder house, half acre lot, piled up with crap.

Last week a partner and I bought a 1400 square foot fixer upper. I have a crew banging on that as well. We are booked into January. :thumbsup

Not making a ton of money on every job, but I'm sure trying!

Not bad for the crane world. Bare rentals are a bit down. Only about 65% utilization. The operated and maintained side is slammed. Cant get enough cranes....... big ones too. All of our 660 ton to 800 ton cranes are out. This one has 880 ton capacity
