My system is original to my boat which is from the year 2006, It has a couple amps and 2 10" subs with various other speakers and the Sirius XM still works and I never paid for it, but isn't loud at all which is fine with me since I seldom use it.

Who cares. Also cracks me up in for sale ads for boats they list the stereo specs as the main feature of the boat, and not much else about it. I guess that’s the most important thing to buyers these days, at least those that prefer sitting in their boat all day.

For me it’s not about “how loud” but “how clean” is the sound. I have 6 Rockford fosgate 8’s and 2 Rockford Fosgate 6.5’s and 1 Rockford Fosgate 12 inch sub. They are powered by 2 four channel RF amps and a RF sub amp. It goes very loud but is also very clean. I love to pull up and drown out some rap bullshit with my country!!!

I ordered a mach 22 new in late 2002, and the exact same system minus a new head unit still worked perfect when we sold it a year ago. Every other boat we've had (the way I drive maybe) half that shit is broken and hanging with a trail mix of fasteners in the bilge. We just got a nice new bote and are using a good quality blue tooth speaker which is all we need at this point-

My system is so old ( like my outdated rock and roll playlist) I'm still trying to figure out how to keep the needle from skipping when I hit a little wake.

When all said and done it still sounds better that the shit that comes out of most of those systems on the water...

Loud enough to be the asshole parked down at 3 dunes playing the shittiest music possible and when asked to turn it down I'll reply with a hard NO. Music so loud nobody can talk or hear anything around me.

I’m guessing the guy with the loudest system will be the one playing the shittiest music.
I am sure I have been guilty of this :).....now I tend to leave systems stock for the most part or at least don't require a bunch of batteries...

When I sold boats at LBYS, you would not believe the amount of sales that blew out because the head unit didn't work! I could not wrap my head around it. I would even give them a new in box unit, but they were freaked out! WTF>

I didn't see it noted, do you have any of these Rockford tweeters on board??? The best sounding tweeter in the business imo...

im a stereo geek, currently i have in my 21 daytona
2 fosgate p2 12"s in sealed boxes
4 alpine type r 6 1/2's
2 fosgate prime 6 1/2's
1 fosgate 1200x1
1 fosgate 300x4

its pretty loud and clean sounding. however i am wanting to change it up a little and swap the existing 6 1/2's out for some fosgate m2's. thinking 4 of the 8" and 4 of the 6 1/2"s and use the new sound digital marine amps.

No I measured that volume with it turned up so loud it clipped the amps and nuked the speakers and sounded like marbles in a blender lol

We take it to the beach and play music. Boat is quiet. A lot cheaper then trying to have something that won’t be loud enough in any crowd of boats.

your boat looks awesome btw.

Half of my 8 speakers and both of my subs are under the closed bow. So it will rattle your brain down there.

Then it's loud enough for everyone to hear when doing 50.

But the boat has a deep seating area. So I'm actually understanding the purpose of speakers on posts now. If you want to hear it on the beach or sandbar. It's hard to get that music to travel side to side. It kind of just stays in the boat or goes up.

Oh you must’ve been the guy that stopped at the MTI boat at desert storm in your walker to shake it in the sky asking the sky wizards “to strike down thy loud noise maker”

Lol go be old somewhere else dude

(2) Wet Sound 6.5"
(2) 12" Kicker subs
(2) Kicker KXMA800.8 amps
Loud, not crazy loud, but super clean.

I had a bigger system at one point and loved it (in a shockwave tremor 25').

But now my older and my ears are damaged from the cumulative impacts of life. It had:

* Four Infinity Kappa Perfect 10" subs
* Four Infinity Kappa 693.5i 6X9's
* Four JBL C608GTi 6.5" separates

Powered by
* JBL P1200.1 sub amp
* JBL Crown A3000 amp (powering the C608 separates which can take 600watts RMS)
* JBL 600 watt amp powering the 6x9's

It was very loud and the best sounding stereo I've heard in a boat to date.

I’d love to know the db of the Kicker toon and that blue mti at desert storm. Those were amazing

I bet the old man at 3 dunes was upset that he could hear it there. I mean after all he was there first. How dare those noise makers travel after him.

I will next time I'm out, I had no idea until I saw this thread that you can download one on your phone.
I can't imagine it being even close to accurate. I have a DB meter in my watch and have compared to a actual sound meter, not even close.

Nice I need to test my cigarette next time.

It has 8 MB Quart 8” with 125 watts each and 2 10” subs with 200. It hits really hard but I think it’s because that Kevlar hull acts as a perfect box for them.

Most of the battle in boat stereo’s is being able to hear it outside of the boat. Without some pods or something above the interior of the boat you need a banging system. This is why the wakeboard boats always seem to have the loudest stereo with the worst playlist.

Yep, had a couple of buddies that got into the boat scene and bought used rides, They needed some mechanical attention but they put all their money ito the sound system first. They keeped breaking down and thought owning a boat was a pain in the ass.

I love a good stereo in the boat and in the cars. Used to install all my own stuff back in the day, so stereos are one thing that I actually know my way around :cool:

Just recently upgraded the stock B&O system in my Super Duty to all Memphis components and added a 2nd 8" sub with amp, sounds super clean and was a huge difference over that "upgraded" stock system.

Having the little deck boat now, it is much easier to get the sound out of the boat and with the Outboard being so quiet, we don't need to crank it to hear it clearly while underway. It has a pretty respectable system, hits good and is super clean.

8 - 6.5" Alpine R Series
2 - JL 10's
2 - Alpine PDX
Controlled by JL MM100s

First stop we made was to Daniel at Wired For Sound to tune the amps. This coming offseason, we are adding another amp, battery and replacing all the Alpine 6.5's with JL or Wet Sounds.
