Ended up with an '06 Honda 50hp. There seems to be a 'parting' line(s) above the cav plate and another at the lower cowling. Distance there is 12.5".

I always thought that mids were either 15" or 20"?

What do I have? Or, where should I measure?

Is there another plate? The one I posted the info above from, is on the 'clamp' portion of the motor. Keep looking?

I don't know. I rarely work on outboards and even rarer that I see a Honda. I just know how to find parts, but I couldn't tell you where the stickers are at on them. Reading that though, it looks like the 20" shaft is standard.

Measure from the clamp bracket (where it sits on top of the transom) to the cavatation plate

A 12.5 tall mid section would be a long shaft.

From the transom clamp to the cav plate is 20" so yeah I guess I''ve got a short shaft model.

Dunno DeltaSig.......came on a pontoon boat that I also don't know what to do with......

I brought the Honda home with the intent of having it checked out by somene but don't know who to take it to. You have a Honda guy?

When I was shopping for an outboard, I learned that a lot of places will only service & repair certain brands, typically what they sell new.

I've never had work done at these shops but you might call and ask if they work on hondas.
