I love how they put thought into including the water line in the rendering.

That was a request by me. I wanted some of the lines to be parallel with the water. Trying to make the boat look long and sleek.

Smart. I like your style. Again, thanks for sharing. Loving it.

Love it. Did Gene send you all these pics or did you go there and take them? We have a 255 that is a little further along, but we didn’t get as many detailed pics of the process. I can’t wait to see yours when it pops out of the mold.

Gene has sent me a few when I request them. Only twice. I have been visiting Howard about every two weeks so I can document the build for myself. It also allows me to be in their face on a regular basis. Mine is out of the mold, I’m just trying to catch up on pics.

Congrats on the new 255. Which one is yours?

Congrats keep the pics coming!

We are down on the list for a 255, should have made up my mind much sooner!
Are you for hire:) I would love to have a set of build photos!

I always wonder why builders like Howard don't post builds, I think it would be an easy way to advertise and gain interest in your brand?
Great looking build so far!

There were 5-288s 5-255s your sds and one bullett ahead a month ago, delivery was speculated for early 2022 when I put down the deposit (7/14/20). I suspect that to move up a bit maybe fall 2021. Can't rush perfection!!

Do you charge by the pic or by the hour? ;)

You will get moved up. As long as you are ready to go financially, other people will drop out and move you up.
They are some of the best built boats!

Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting up the progress of your build. Going to be a killer package. Great call on the requested waterline rendering.

Saw it yesterday. The inside is all cut and buffed. Outside of the boat has just started being cut. Another couple weeks and it should be all nice and shiny!

Beautiful boat, and congratulations. I am sure you all are excited. Out of curiosity, what appealed to you more about the SDS than the 288? Prefer many aspects of the SDS myself, but also like some of the changes incorporated into the 288.

Thank you!
The SDS has a functional windshield, 4 seats across the back and you sit further down in the boat. These were all big factors for me because I have 2 small boys. My last boat was a Nordic deck and it was very windy inside but we loved the deck boat style of boating. This boat bridges the gap a little more for me.
With 1100+ hp the SDS was a little better choice for me. Plus the side profile is badass!

Half cap in the front.
Bulkheads in the front lounge area. Howard builds no less than 17 partial/full bulkheads into the SDS. This is part of the reason why Howards feel so solid in the water and you won’t hear the boat creek or feel it twist while hitting rough water.

Great looking boat! I'm SOOOOO glad they stayed away from the MTI-ish hump leading nack to the transom. That look is so played out IMHO. You did a fantastic job with the gel design and it looks like they executed it perfectly! Awesome sled! 👍

Nack?

Edit: "Back". Got it. MTI started the trend. The rest followed.

Thank you very much! It’s funny you say that because I think Howard modeled the back of the 288 after the DCB and MTI. I prefer the straight lines and sharp edges of the SDS. Thank you for the kind words.

Damn that motor looks good. I think your pics are more recent than when I was at the factory. I can’t wait to see your boat on the water.

Love a big HP IO boat. Nice job!

Yes! Me too. Nothing against people liking twin outboards, but in my eyes, the rumble and sound of 1100+hp is awesome and irreplaceable! Yes, a twin 450 ob boat might be a little cheaper to maintain and have a great warranty, but I can use the back of my boat, and you will know when I’m around! Plus, both my 8 and 5 year old said “Please don’t get a boat with those two big ugly things on the swim step daddy!”

Thanks for the kind words!
