Some more progress pics from today. All finished with color sand and polish. Waiting for first stage of rigging, like rub rail, cleats etc.
Next, we are working on picking out the interior details.

I hear he is pretty good too ;) , I would love for Gelcoater and retaocleg to take a pic of some kind from stuff like this and point out the artistry us regular folk just take in as part of the awesome work, and point out the tricky parts of it so we can appreciate what they do in detail rather than just seeing the big picture. Again, I don't have any more hours in a day to give them for stuff like that, they are busy enough as it is. Beautiful looking boat, thanks for posting the pics.

It sounds like you are experienced in the gel coat and boat building world! I am trying to visit Howard as much as I can to see the process. These guys are true craftsmen! I have actually spent a lot of time at Howard and Teague. I have really enjoyed the experience at Teague as well!

Mikemo_SDS, your boat looks amazing, and aside from all of our joking, just to confirm retaocleg is the amazing artist at Nordic and Hallett. It's so cool to have both him and Gelcoater from Eliminator and several other brands on here to educate us simpletons. Excellent experts giving high praise. 👍

Oh man! That’s so cool! I wonder if he did the gel on my 2016 Nordic deck? It was awesome!

What's the latest on this build?
So, she has been sitting for a while waiting for rigging. I am told that I am next in line for rigging after MeCasa16’s 255 is out. And by “rigging” I’m referring to engine/drive, gauges, etc. It might already have some other stuff done to it like rub rail, cleats, interior lights and such. I just haven’t been there for about 5 weeks to check it out.

Some more progress pics from last week.
Stopped by Teague and ordered Lifeline vest for us and scheduled the Dyno test for Monday.

Probably see some of this on v6toy’s build.
Two pinstripe colors coming together isn’t exactly easy. Will be interesting to see how they work it, as there are a couple ways to go about it.

I am always amazed at how accurate the design matches from one side to the other, whenever I try and flip things right hand to left hand it gets screwed up.
AND
How the scheme matches so well top to bottom across the rubrail, some type of reference points in the mold, compensation for the rubrail itself? boggles my mind!

It’s pretty amazing to me also how they do it. Especially since it’s done by two guys at Howard. Their technique is pretty simple, and executed perfectly!

Nice to hear, I may be stealing your light and dark grey/silver and your orange!!
That motor looks sweet on the stand, did they do some pulls? Did you get to watch?

I remember the first motor I had on a dyno, I couldn't believe it didn't blow up right on the stand!
Nothing better than a full hard dyno pull!, well except doing it in real life of course!

Anticipated delivery and test plunge??

That is actually red, the brightest red that they could do and they added some clear pearl into it. You can’t see the pearl until it’s out in the sun.
We did break in and about 7 or 8 pulls. It made a little too much boost right out of the gate due to a new coating that Whipple put on the rotors. So we had to go up in pulley size on the blower. It actually made 1140hp at 6200 and was still increasing. After it was all done it made 1100 at 6400rpm and about 1000ft/lbs from 3500-5900

Red?? I need a new monitor!
NICE!!, 1000lbs torque, that is a nice number to get to!
I wish I could have been able to do a boat like this when I was younger.

You know you have to do a video of that thing starting and coming to idle, its going to sound nasty! CONGRATS

The engine makes its peak power at about 6300-6400. Bob says we will test props and lowers but I do know the last boat they did with a similar package runs a 31” Max 5. That boats owner as well as Bob have told me they hit 107 with a lot of rpm left over. That boat also cruises at about 60, with rpm around 3500 I think.

No, they use a Dyno that is close to their facility.
Thank you, I am very excited about everything and can’t wait to get behind the wheel!

Received some progress pics from Mike today after going over a few things. It’s getting closer and closer as the days pass by. Pretty amazing everything that goes into a boat to make it work. I’m going to try to take my wife and kids this weekend to see it for the first time.
