Does anyone have a Howard Sportdeck that's been capped front and rear? Can you post or pm me some close up pics? Trying to figure out the transition for rub rail, and also which rub rail to use being that the hull is a shoebox style. Thanks

Not a Sportdeck, it's a 288, but the process and rubrail are the same.

I thought the 288 was butt joint where top and bottom molds come together

That makes sense if they are capping the entire boat then adding the rub rail. I'm trying to figure out if just front and rear can be capped and how to transition from the "capped area" to the "shoebox' on the side.

Yes. The boat pictured above was a front and rear cap only. Rail follows seem between deck and hull.

Here's a pic of mine. Front and rear are now capped. The side rub rail was originally an L shape to hide the where deck and bottom came together. If not using the L shaped molding, how do you hide the transition?

Kind of along the same topic... Can some of you that have had Howard cap a boat post a close up picture of the work? I'd like to see the transitions from the cap to the regular gel, especially pin lines and such..

On a side note: just for info, the third boat above as a DCB.

I had a picture somewhere of the capping process but cannot seem to find it. Having watched the work being performed multiple times now...I'm still amazed at what needs to be done to the gel to cap a boat. :eek

I don't have any close ups but this is the best I could find on my phone. The cap job they do is done really nice. You can't see the lines from blending it together. As far as the paint job and pin striping it's ok.
