Oh ya, big rounds happen, golf is crazy, I can feel like I am playing like shit and card on 85, then feel like I playing well and card on 88.

Thats kinda what I meant about golf Tec, a ton of analyzing and not really focusing on what I could actually do to improve, it for sure helped though seeing you swing on video with someone showing you why you just hit a slice in real time was great.

I also stopped chasing distance, I was always a fairly long hitter and naturally fast swing but not consistent. I dialed back and focusing on quality swings on contact.
I got V1 which is the app my instructor also uses so I can analyze my swing pretty good myself but don't know all the drills to change things. I'm 62 so not looking to change my swing to look like a pro, just want to hit ball decent most the time and have some confidence I can do that, thinking you are going to duff a driver 25 yards is not the best feeling on the first tee lol

Golftec was some of the worst money I’ve ever spent on golf. Way too analytical and too much time spent rehashing the same old lesson. My game actually went backwards. I then found an instructor at my local course that looked at what I was doing and then fine tuned my swing rather then trying to redo the entire. swing and I improved so much more and started scoring so much better.

Definitely does not feel good! There's a million drills you just want to make sure your doing something that is beneficial for your swing type.

I think with anything it depends on the coach. Mine was a pretty cool senior tour guy. But I do agree with what you're saying as well. To much tech and analytics vs just having you fine time and dial in something that works for your.

To be honest if I had to do it over again, I probably wouldn't have went to Golftec and tried out a few local instructors but after my friend got a few lessons from a local coach and went completely backwards, I figured it was a safer bet. Golftec is repetitive and they are using video, etc. to try and make you swing like a pro but the basics are there.

I'm still glad I did it and my game improved because of it but like anything else, you have to find the right coach. That isn't easy when you are trying to improve at a game that is an absolute mind fuck.

Pretty much my experience to. I wish we had more options here for lessons. It's hard to know if someone is causing damage to your swing since in general you get worst before you get better.

Well Bryson Dechambeau hitting coach teaches at the course next to me, actually seen him this morning when I finished 9, he is 300 bucks an hour a little to spendy for me.

Got a round in today. Par on the first 7 holes, then double, then bogey. 3 over on the front and then 6 over on the back with another double. No birds though. Carded an 80, not bad but such a good start to fall off a bit. Irons were not great from distance but 50 in an chips were on, had 4 that were with inches of dropping. Really tried to break 80, needed to chip in bird on 18, left it 3" short. No 3 puts and 1 penalty unplayable.

@Joker @YeahYeah01 - We stayed at the Best Western Abbey Inn. It's not 5-star but it works perfect for what we needed. Breakfast and a pool/spa for after. If you call them direct they will handle all the bookings and tee times which I am told is lower than the course direct.

Yes, of course! I have a resident card and live like 10 minutes from Torrey.

Trip Report - Wisconsion

Well it has been a little over a week since I got back from an epic golf trip to Wisconsin. We flew into MKE, grabbed a Turo and made our way to Sheboygan, WI to land at our AirBnB for the next few days. We started the first night out at the Kohler Swing Studio for some drinks and to warm up for the days to come.

Day one started off at Blackwolf Run on the Meadow Valleys course which was the start of conditioning us required precision tee shots, thoughtful approach shots and a soft touch with the putter for greens that roll true but at the speed of light.

Following up the Meadow Valleys course we hit the Baths which is a 10 hole, par 3 course with a laid-back vibe. With music playing throughout the course, you got the chance to show your short iron game with longest hole being 151 yards. We finished up the day on the practice green which has an 18 hole putting course that we of course decided was the perfect time to gamble amongst the group.

Day two was Whistling Straits. We started the day on the Irish course which was a welcomed links style course that allowed us to generally keep our balls in play (thanks to the caddies keeping an eye on our shots). Greens were punishing fast but the views made up for it. With an hour break in between, we hit the bar for a quick bite to eat before heading out to the Straits course. We got a late start on this one but managed to squeeze in 15 holes. With holes carved into the banks of Lake Michigan, it was equally stunning and nerve racking.

Day three was back to Blackwolf Run for the River course. With the river flowing through the majority of the holes, it was awesome to say the least. There were a few balls donated here but a favorite amongst the group and a great way to round out the trip.

I elected for a caddie on all courses excluding the Baths par 3. This proved to be helpful when making shot placement decisions, keeping an eye on my ball that I inherently would hit anywhere else than where planned and for reading putts. The only course that required caddies was the Straits course which is a walking only course, however tee times often dictate a caddie requirement.

I can't say one bad thing about the service by the Kohler golf crew, they really are a class act. We had a great trip and will be doing this one again.

Heading to Palm Springs later this week for a Friday Saturday golf adventure. Temps are finally down to where I like em. Most courses seem to be overseeding at the moment so options may be limited. 😞

Played the course on Marine Corp Air Station (former Top Gun site) Miramar last week. Greens were sweet but the rest not so much. Driving range is all grass which is nice. The noise of fighter planes, Super Stallion choppers and Ospreys were a bit distracting but I didn't mind.

Had one birdie, and one triple. Greens were slow, so we missed too many putts coming up short. Awesome weather though.

Been talking it way easy, I messed up my wrist with my new swing change and had to make some tweaks but it's healing slowly since I didn't stop completely but stopped the range and took a weeks half off between rounds. Last time a played a sucked. If clicked around 16 that I was over swinging a bit with what I can do right now.

Went today, and kept it slow and just focused on tempo, driver was really good and irons solid, chipping was not great, and that's my best part of my game lol, go figure. Shot a 79, last rings of prior was an 87. I had a chance to beat my PB of 77, I messed up a bit on really good drives and got bogeys where I should I have pared. Solid score with only 1 birdie.

My wife laughs at me. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve come home and said I have my game figured out and dialed in. And the next round i blow up and can’t hit anything.

She could tell I was pretty happy but knew too well that I'm like a cheap Chinese toy and the wheels come off pretty quick lol. Seems I play my best golf on driving range as the fairway is pretty wide lol, nice to hit a few good shots and make a few long putts.

My 4th grader just started his first golf lessons yesterday. Having the golf mechanics for life would be so nice. We shall see how it goes.

Anyone play Trump national? I’m currently winning bidder for a foursome for $300 and wondering how high I should go.
Played there along time ago in a charity deal. Good course with some tight holes. I’m with Mike. Let me know if you need to fill out a group.

That had to be a bit ago. Valley Crest no longer exists. It’s now part of a bigger conglomerate. Cool picture.
