I wish I was wired differently, where I could be content with travel and vacations closer to home. But I a totally screwed up where I love new places and experiences. So I am totally jelous of Dave to be able to goto a crazy cool place like he is going to. I have a high tolerance to risk when it come to these types of opportunities and would go all in on such a pretty cool trip!

I am so fcked up I would probably fly to Mexico City and eat at all the cool places first and rent a car and drive 4 hours to Aculpoco

You see.. Yesterday I posted about people that always gotta say something negative.. LOL

In this particular thread, you are the one being negative. We are flying pretty far south, and then the locals take us to this place, and to the compound. We aren't winging this and dealing with driving and cartels..

RD

Even if you were. You’re River Fucking Dave. Carry on and have a kickass time!

After those huge drug seizures at the border and in the IE over the past couple of weeks I'd imagine the cartel doesn't think much about Americans.

I used to go south of the border ( Encinitas/La Bufadora) to my landlords place twice a week back in the early 80's...some good times were had. Have fun, safe travels and keep this thread updated.

wondering if the guy who wrote this piece employed by the cartel? Troncones is a crime-free small town. It's a place where if you drop your credit card or passport, it gets returned to you. I have lived here for 30 years and can say that Troncones is the safest place I've ever been in the world. 🤔 ;) Good travels Dave👍

You're just not trying hard enough then.:D

San Carlos is a great place and we used to drive down at least 2-3 times a year to dive. I haven't been there for a year or so but that has nothing to do with fear of Mexico.
We're headed to Cabo next month.

Leave your keys to the SW. ha

We went to Aculpoco about 40 years ago. It was shit hole.

The locals told us we were 40 years too late when we were there! Can't imagine what it looks like now.

So, you ain't missing much! :p

My buddy works for a well known golf company in Carlsbad Ca. And he gets to go to Mexico yahoo ! Escorted everywhere and he can’t leave the resort with out a armed escort even when headed to the manufacturing plant 25 minutes away from the resort

sounds like fun!

Well I read all the posts on the thread and I'll just say this Dave..... I jumped in on a development in 2005 between OC & Cabo near an airport and on golf course. Developers were American money and my advisors said risk was 50%. I gave some money to secure my lot and I paid to draw up plans for a 4500 sq ft home. Folks were flying down and securing lots on the project and I saw prices on dirt climbing before I broke ground. After I got plans drawn the developer altered their $/ ft pricing and now they wanted to include my rooftop footage making home a much larger commitment by around 1K sq ft. It altered my thinking and I didn't appreciate the bait & switch. I got lucky and recovered my money selling my lot due to popularity at the time. Here's a link I just found.... Be careful buddy.... its a gamble so be sure so go in as low as you can afford to lose. You'll be in big boy arena.

I'm not taking my motorhome to Mexico.. We are flying in and the property is about 40 minutes from the airport. This is way down there though so I don't think we will have too many problems.

"Picked up by locals and driven to a compound". What could possibly go wrong? Not a negative comment. I positively want you and Stacy to be safe. My business MX dealings were at Hotel Palmilla, San Jose Del Cabo in the mid 80s. Great place. Probably the best there was. But, things in MX have changed, a lot since then.

Sorry Dave, trying not to be negative. There isn't any chance that I would take my wife and kids to any part of Mexico for the foreseeable future. Odds are that you'll be fine but, Key West seems like a better choice.
