I was in Cali Thursday went to a sandwich shop and was told to eat outside because I didn't have a vaccinations card. Good thing was, it was nice outside. California is a shithole and ran by dickheads.

Don't forget about all the taco trucks all around town, you can pick up a few tacos before you go do one of you sports, make sure you bring you own toilet trailer with you , you are going to need it.

Yes and yes.
Wait til this passes. Think DMV incompetence with HUGE tax implications.

Impressive for someone to make it from surfing to KOH in an 1.5 hours....
Newsome must have fixed all the highways and traffic issues since I left.

Wow! Glad to see it's all fixed now! I'm sure they'll lower the gas tax now too!

If you go with the flow of traffic and not be the slowest ahole on the road at 6am on a Saturday you could make it pretty close… so much for those fucked up roads and crazy traffic eh?

At least your commute, or lack of, is nil to none. 😁
Wish it were true however, I have not missed a single day in the office due to Covid sickness. I’m sitting here now.

I will say, I’m luckier than most. The commute is 14 miles and it is all within or adjacent to the far North side of the valley. Typically about 20 minutes.

Don't worry, the roads are still fuct up...I was just towing a car hauler through there last week...well, unless they did one hell of a job this last week;)

I grew up in the San Gabriel Valley. We used to throw a truck and bikes on a trailer Saturdays after work, run up to Sidewinder Rd for the night. Sunday traffic sucked coming home, but not bad then heading up...this was 20+ years ago.

My wife misses the beach, I miss the way Cali was 30 years ago...just another old man I guess.

CA is definitely a pay to play state. If you’re making the kinda money, to pay the premiums and avoid the pitfalls of it (public schools, fast track, shitty neighborhoods, etc etc) then yes... you can’t beat it weather and geographic wise.

But the place is so politically effed up, I can never bring myself to say “I love California”

That explains it… the towing lanes definitely need some love in some areas! Makes me cringe towing my boat sometimes, lol!

It seems Most CA cheerleaders love their personal pleasures and activities.
If it is beyond their life’s edges it doesn’t concern them.
Not being a dick, just an observation.
CA can simultaneously be an activity heaven, as described by the OP, while also being the leader in socialist policy, taxation, self destruction through liberal policy, the all time champion street drug addict population, and on and on and on.
There is no denying either paradigm, so I don’t always see the point of these attempts at mutual exclusivity?
You can do all those things, and have a bum shit on your porch with a social worker handing him a new needle while a crew cuts your catalytic converter off your F150 and an illegal takes your tax money… all in an hour and a half.

It had been a year since I'd been out near Cabazon...was hoping they had it fixed. Nope. First thing I thought of was all the new folks towing to Glamis trying to stay in a lane

I’ve never seen that happen or had that happen to me. Turn off the news and go back to sleep :)

I am at Pittsburgh airport I’ve worked the last 36 hours on 2 different rigs, and been home less time this month than I’ve been on airplanes.
Like I said, if it doesn’t happen in your driveway then it isn’t your problem.
Thanks for proving my point.
I’ll go to sleep about 9 tonight Havasu time.
It’s 10:30 here right now.
8 hours of flying and a 2 hour drive will get me home.

I was a CA resident for almost 20 years.
I spent a good deal of time all around the Bay Area, and S Ca even after I moved.
I haven’t watched the news since November 2020.
What I HAVE seen is the squalor first hand from Sac to SF and all points South.
I’m not a fan of AZ either truth be told.

My favorite comparison on how Ca takes care of their roads vs other states is the 95 from Needles to Vegas. There’s no sign needed. You can tell the second you cross the state line.

Are you on Nextdoor? It looks like you’re mapping from NB in the post above. There are PLENTY of posts of bums shitting in people’s bushes and stealing from the houses in the flower streets of CDM recently. Do you go to Fashion Island? Tell me there aren’t more and more bums in the area over the last few years. My MIL and FIL lived in the Port streets since the 90s and the bum problem had them move to Big Canyon recently.

Is it as bad as HB, Westminster, GG, etc.? Not even close, but the trend is worse, not better. A few years ago I would never see bums in Irvine, now we’ve got what seem like permanent additions on Culver. There are posts about catalytic converter thefts all over University park and Woodbridge lately.

Might want to add boating, traffic and hiking to that list among others if not mentioned...

I’m on the 95 quite a bit. The road transformation as you cross that line is eye opening for sure.

No I’m not on Nextdoor. It’s Facebook for Karen’s. RDP is my only social media outlet and it’s still full of too many whiners, lol!

Trannys are having a fundraiser for the girls scouts this weekend in Havasu… I thought just CA was the fucked up place

Yeah I’ve already made all the memes for that fucked up shit.

As I told superclown, the biggest problem with Havasu is it’s too close to Kommiefornistan.

There’s a lot of fucked up shit all over.
In my life I’ve been in every State, every Canadian province, and 9 countries total.
It bothers me when people make comparisons that they arent qualified to make.
The southwest desert region is an example. I kind of like Havasu most of the time. But the stark reality when the curtain is pulled back is that it is an overcrowded man made oasis in the desert that is truly a zoo at times both on the water and off.
It’s way cool for many many people. But my upbringing was in a different environment.
The country is a much bigger place than Socal and Havasu. Many people on here, like me, have criss crossed the nation countless times.
CA is fucked up as an American State in this Union, and Havasu is sort of a Disneyland, lol.
A lot of places view it as a sort of spectacle.
I am having a hard time finding the perfect landing zone. The places with like minded people have fucked up weather.

Really, I don't get the animosity. The Cali dwellers that love it there, good for them. The people who like it elsewhere, same deal. Obviously, weather was not highest on my list of wants or needs. So, everyone's checklist is different.

I've been lucky enough to drive cross country. North, south east and west...there's really a lot of cool places. Some people have only seen the country via airports and meetings. Not a true vision of anything really. The news pits us against each other, city dwellers and outlanders. Some have never been to the other. Some have never spent real time in other states...Vegas and Havasu are not really Nevada or Arizona.
