The Icon is pretty well established in SoFlo. I have neighbors with them and I also see them all over the place. They are pretty with some fun options. They are quite stylish.Anyone have one? Reviews look pretty good. They only offer electric. Founded in 2017. Uses a Toyota electric motor. Fully loaded lifted 6 seater can be found for 12,500.
Anyone have any input?
This one does 31mph so I read. I don't want it to be street legal because then it's just another vehicle. For 12k I can buy a scion with A/C lolThe Icon is pretty well established in SoFlo. I would have no problem owning an Icon.
However, if I were buying a golf cart and not a Gem Car, I would most likely put the EZ-GO Liberty at the top of my list. It’s a all forward seating 4 seater, that is the same length as a 2 seater.
Having a golf cart to cruise around is fun no matter how fast it goes. But having a cart that does not impede traffic is the best situation. It is worth whatever investment it takes to get it to go 35mph. That is the limit in which roads you can drive on, where I live. Anything slower just pisses off other drivers, when having to make long runs on high traffic 35 mph roads. Just an observation.
IMO, the Gem Car is so much better than a standard golf cart, in so many ways. But buying the correct year model is essential to long term happiness. 2015 is the golden goose of Gem Car perfection. Lol
I hear you…… My Gem Car is worth more than a used Jeep Wrangler. At least with the Wrangler, I could go topless, and on fwy. But…… Having a totally cool golf cart is a lot of fun. Especially if it is street legal. I take mine all over town. So do a lot of others. Pompano Beach isn’t exactly The Villages, when it comes to golf carts, but golf carts are everywhere here. Grocery stores, restaurants, the beach, cruising A1A. Heck, they even have places that will rent you a golf cart. This one does 31mph so I read. You gonna keep it at the river house Brian?Well.... guess I'm gonna be the Guinea pig here. Just ordered a new lifted 6 seater ICON from a dealer in Bakersfield. It will be here by the end of the week. 2 year warranty. I emails icon about parts and they responded In like 15 minutes with a website.
Tank,
I'm just gonna rock the stock batteries. Maybe upgrade in a few years. We don't go far at the river and charges up every night anyways.
Yup keeping it at the river. Thank you. We desperately need more room with 2 adults, 2 kids and gear to and from the beachYou gonna keep it at the river house Brian?
Congrats on the cart. Look forward to seeing it.
One thing I did read is that switch is junk, and swap it out asap. They should explain the charging process. You have to turn the switch under the seat off when charging. If it stays in run mode it won’t fully charge. Super easy though with built in charger and gauge that shows when it’s fully charged.
The switch Is run, off, tow. Since it has an electric parking brake and if you get stuck and need to tow It kills the power to the brake and lets it free wheel
Ya I’m on my 3rd one. It’s just a 3 position 6 lug switch. One thing I did read is that switch is junk, and swap it out asap.
