Ideas on how to get a spare tire lock off?

Just bought a PJ trailer and the spare tire is locked on and the previous owner doesn’t have the key. I didn’t see it until now as the spare had a cover on it when I bought it yesterday.

Before I just go for it with a drill and Dremel are there any tricks to this?

One of the easiest locks to pick, can be picked in seconds. Pick up pick set off Amazon.

My go to for something like that is an angle grinder with a cut off wheel. Not sure if that is your best bet but if it fit in there, that is what I would likely use.

I agree, but make sure to put something to protect the rim from damage when the grinder slips

The locksmith tools aren’t the easiest to find I may resort to my dremel with the steel cut wheel. I think my angle grinder is too big.

Me personally I would just drill it because that's what I have laying around. And if that didn't work I'd switch over to the grinder.

If it's a steel rim, just use a flat bar. They'll usually loosen up a lot, then work off with big channel locks. More for show than security.

I used a hammer and chisel. Backed 2 off to where I could turn them with vice grips
