I'm not even that mechanically inclined and can see that's an aluminum block. Bad ass. But what's it going to be used for is the question?

Maybe, I’m looking at a small pic on my phone.
I dont know if the fe blocks have the same same deep casting where the mains go. Cross bolts in on the dodge stuff right?

I have no idea, I'm asking....

Yep. The bottom end of a cammer. All the top end was there as well.

It's getting a custom intake made to put a blower on it.

Mike said it's gonna be 459ci or something like that.

Can't even imagine what this will cost when it's all done.
I was hoping that you would say cammer! And with a blower, I think I need a minute to myself.

No idea. Didn't ask. I would guess this is a year or so away from burning fuel...

But I'll be keeping an eye on it for sure.

Wouldn't surprise me if it's one of Jim's projects.

The big question is how big will it be?
Tells- obviously 50s design technology.
Y block.
And the big one, vertical front mount distributor.

See post 14. I'm not sure if he knows the final number yet. Definitely a work in progress.

So I'm walking into Badenochs about a lifetime ago. Drove down so walking in from the street side. Get past the shop and look at the lift in the back. White 63 galaxie with big squatty tires all the way around.
Hmmm. Closer inspection shows hundred and eighty degree headers. Hey now.
Walk up to it and look underneath, yep, Cammer! I tripped out, and my friends are like wuuuut?
To this day I still covet that car.

To use Mopar and 427 SOHC in a sentence is almost sacrilege. Mopar forced Nascar to ban that technology setting American manufacturers back decades.
When Fords 427 came out they dominated Nascar on the long tracks if you add in Mercury.
Just a tidbit of info.

Mmmmm, Ford porn🥴

I wouldn't say the dollar per pony ratio is good, but the absolute pimp factor is off the chart. Noisy SOB's though. Definitely an identifiable sound once you hear them.

4 bolts per cylinder. How well do head gaskets hold up?

I had a 406 in my Mustang in high school. It had 12:1 JE pistons in it. Never had a head gasket issue, and I ran the shit outa that engine!!!

With a blower, this engine will probably be round 8:1, but it will have WAY more cylinder pressure. Mike knows how to build an engine. I have no doubt it will stay together.

Would be willing to bet money that Galaxie was owned by Roger Spielmans dad. Man what a collection of cars his old man had, I tried to buy a couple of them over the years and he would not part with any of them.

No. I couldn't tell if it was a Ford or Dodge.
I was never around anything hot rod as a kid. I'll tell you what though, I sure as hell appreciate learning about it now!
🤓👍

Have you watched Ford vs. Ferrari yet?? This is the same engine (design) that Ford used in the Cobras. I highly recommend you see it if you haven't already.

All the 385 series Fords (429's and 460's) use that bolt pattern with 9/16" head bolts, 140 ft lbs of torque. I have not build any of the early stuff to know if they do it exactly the same.

Looks vaguely familiar. We used something similar in the galaxie we built. And expensive is an understatement. Hope mike doesn’t have half the issues we did. Bitchin piece though.

Wasn't it like 17' long?? I thought I was told that beck in the early 80's.
I don't think that long, but probably 4 or 5ft. I've seen a parts kit, for lack of a better term. Impressive looking pile of parts on a workbench. The old guy was surprised I knew what I was looking at. Cubic dollars, horsepower and history...pretty much a perfect match!
