Puleeaaase!! LOL.Poncho Power?
Looks expensive.
Sure looks like it. Now let’s see the full specs and what vehicle it’s going in.Aluminum FE
Maybe, I’m looking at a small pic on my phone.Looks mopar from here.
I dont know if the fe blocks have the same same deep casting where the mains go. Cross bolts in on the dodge stuff right?Maybe, I’m looking at a small pic on my phone.
Yes FE’s and BB Mopares are both Y blocksI dont know if the fe blocks have the same same deep casting where the mains go. Cross bolts in on the dodge stuff right?
I have no idea, I'm asking....
Aluminum FE
I was hoping that you would say cammer! And with a blower, I think I need a minute to myself.Yep. The bottom end of a cammer. All the top end was there as well.
It's getting a custom intake made to put a blower on it.
Mike said it's gonna be 459ci or something like that.
Can't even imagine what this will cost when it's all done.
I'm not even that mechanically inclined and can see that's an aluminum block. Bad ass. But what's it going to be used for is the question?

The big question is how big will it be?
Tells- obviously 50s design technology.
Y block.
And the big one, vertical front mount distributor.
Cool! 459 is all factory dimension parts.See post 14. I'm not sure if he knows the final number yet. Definitely a work in progress.
Glad I asked the question. Cuz now I know.
To use Mopar and 427 SOHC in a sentence is almost sacrilege. Mopar forced Nascar to ban that technology setting American manufacturers back decades.Looks mopar from here.
Hard to tell on a phone. All I can see is the distributor hole up front.
At least 24 hrs.4 bolts per cylinder. How well do head gaskets hold up?

So I'm walking into Badenochs about a lifetime ago. Drove down so walking in from the street side. Get past the shop and look at the lift in the back. White 63 galaxie with big squatty tires all the way around.
Hmmm. Closer inspection shows hundred and eighty degree headers. Hey now.
Walk up to it and look underneath, yep, Cammer! I tripped out, and my friends are like wuuuut?
To this day I still covet that car.
Nothing like hearing a cammer go through the traps buzzing 8500+Mmmmm, Ford porn
I wouldn't say the dollar per pony ratio is good, but the absolute pimp factor is off the chart. Noisy SOB's though. Definitely an identifiable sound once you hear them.

And timing chains...lots of timing chain. The technology that those guys came up with back in the day, with just a slide rule and a sketch pad, and intuitive design is amazing
Did you still have a question about this engine?
No. I couldn't tell if it was a Ford or Dodge.
I was never around anything hot rod as a kid. I'll tell you what though, I sure as hell appreciate learning about it now!
Cool write up on the history of the "Cammer". Like everything else good in hot rodding, it came around because of racing...

No pictures of Bonehead?

When Fords 427 came out they dominated Nascar on the long tracks if you add in Mercury.
Just a tidbit of info.
Cammers were mid sixty's. Would be a good discussion of a Talladega with a Cammer vs a Bird.EVEN AGAINST THE SUPERBIRDS?

Wasn't it like 17' long?? I thought I was told that beck in the early 80's.And timing chains...lots of timing chain.
I don't think that long, but probably 4 or 5ft. I've seen a parts kit, for lack of a better term. Impressive looking pile of parts on a workbench. The old guy was surprised I knew what I was looking at. Cubic dollars, horsepower and history...pretty much a perfect match!Wasn't it like 17' long?? I thought I was told that beck in the early 80's.
