I had a neighbor some years ago that was considered brilliant ,140 plus IQ retired in his 40s after selling his product to IBM. Funny thing though was common logic seemed to escape him entirely. Interesting dude for sure , but... Wow , at times i wondered how had survived that long.
When I was Drilling in Prudhoe years ago I had a 8 man crew.
We got a new kid one day, started at roustabout.
The office told me to use his intelligence as much as possible and fast track him, since he had some insane IQ like over 150.
He was like 20 years old or so and already had some college degree.
This sob was the most stupid person I’ve ever come across.
One time I sent him to the tool room to get a wrench, a 9/16 was too big so I said grab a couple smaller ones. He came back empty handed and said he couldn’t find a 8/16 wrench.
I thought he was fucking with me.
He lasted a week and got run off when the housekeepers refused to enter his room anymore as it was in a complete shambles with dirty clothes and garbage.
He knew he was an idiot though.
He told me “I’m a real live genius, but I’m usually the dumbest one in the room”.
Never seen anything like that.
I’m sure he’s high level somewhere now.
He was a trip.
