So I was paying under 800 on our last 28 deck with geico Agreed value of 165k. Just got another quote for Geico on the new boat agreed value much higher at 1077 a year.
deductible was $2100......600 Merc engine.

curious if anyone is doing better? Around the same? Superior service? What do you have?

I tried Geico on my 26 Shockwave w/600 and they said they couldn’t do it 🤔 what’s the trick?

That seems like a great price.

I would be interested to see what your policy limits, coverages etc are for that price. Id call Bostick, Wozencraft, Brand Stern etc and get quotes. Not a fan of Geico when it comes to boat policies...been down that road. IMO your insurance is cheap for that size boat/power.

Can't speak specifically to geico, but a lot of insurance companies have a length/HP ratio that you have to be under for them to consider. The extra 2 feet for the 28 might have put him under the threshold

Makes sense.

Also wonder if a “deck” is a different consideration and not labeled as a “cat” even though it’s a similar hull… 🤷🏻‍♂️

Seems like you are doing good on price though @Dirtbag

Same. I pay about $1200 for my 24' Laveycraft and 496 HO power. Although, I want the maximum amount of coverage that I can get.

$1077 for a 2022 28' deck with 600SCI power.... Hmmmm?

I had BoatsUS/GEICO for many years. All was fine until I had a claim. They slow walked it. Hurdle after hurdle. I was calling and messaging them every week. took about 6 months for them to pay. $15,000. After that they cancel policy. I have USAA now who subs out to Progressive.

$1,077 is way cheap, especially with a $165k agreed value. Are the the coverage limits good?

I was paying 1000 for a 29 nordic deck with a 600, It was only valued at 120,000. That was 4 years ago, I think your new rate is a good deal !

That is so cheap that I would be seriously questioning the coverage and wether or not they would pay if you needed to file a claim. My 2016 Nordic was about $2400 a year. My new Howard-$5700

Nikki Bostick is who I use. I had a boat destroyed in a fire and I was paid out in 2 weeks no drama. She insures all my toys reasonable prices and great coverage.

Definitely make sure you are actually covered if using a mainstream provider like GEICO. Seen a lot of threads about denied claims when not properly insured. I would want a boat specific agent if I had a legit boat.

Progressive pays labor but won't pay dick for parts. Also cosmetically, their in-house adjusters will treat your boat like its a car with paint. Often times paying out less than even just the materials cost. Be careful with them. And I'm saying this as a mechanic who used to do a lot of work with them. They cut absolutely every corner they can

Unfortunately, there was only 3 carriers that could insure my boat because of the agreed value and 110 mph, 1100hp. So my hands are kind of tied!
