They wanted 62k for this. By far the deal of the show.

It’s gonna be way under powered with that motor option

300HP? That’s a great deal for a 55-60mph family hauler.

I am going to talk to Troy about doing one with a 400. This is the perfect all around boat that can be used on the lower river or Havasu. I am so happy that he decided to build this.

When I talked to them they hadn't tested it yet. It wasn't fished. Fit and finish was good. Carpet instead of seadeck. But it was huge inside. Really cool boat. Interested to see what it does. A 400 would be interesting.

The hull was straight v to the motor. Most of the purpose built outboards have a notch in the hull in front of the motor. I am curious as to what effect that will have keeping the prop in clean water. Really good deal on a bitchen boat. I was damned tempted to cut them a check.

I think the 400 would be the way to go as well. 450 if you could swing it lol

Hopefully they can fix the seat bases... one was installed upside down.

And stop with the "I'm a gigantic douche bag and want to play music way to fucking loud" behaviors. The system isn't clean enough for that crap!

For the record, having driven the first one Jim built, thought it was a great hull --- But, I'm with you, 55-60ish and without tabs and loaded with people and gear forget any hole shots.
Could be wrong and wouldn't be bothered if I were --- hope somebody runs it and reports back.
With a 450R and most importantly, the knowledge to really rig it properly, could be a really sweet 'Performance' boat.

I didn't know the Cole 250s molds still existed. Great boat.

And we are off.

It’s a stupid argument lol. 55-60 is perfect for most families.

Don’t get me wrong Merc 450 would be great but it’s not 100% necessary.

We got a guy here building a brand new skater with 700s and you can almost feel people saying to put in 1650’s.

That being said I’m trying to figure out if I want a 300r or 400 for re-power lol.

But for under 70k that’s a badass FAMILY boat. Prop it for 55-60 and I bet you can pull a skier no problem.

The trick like you said is the setup and having someone to rig it correctly.

Agreed. A 450 for this boat with the increased cost and associated increased rigging costs make no sense. If you are building a hot rod there are better platforms to start from.

A 300-400 is the sweet spot for sure. And yea, 55-65 MPH is about the sweet spot for most people in this size of boat.

You would be surprised with what an OB can do when loaded down. You can jump on them and use all the torque to get out, unlike an I.O.

There’s 3 more on the deck and one dog under the nose. 250xs with a 23 trophy plus will still do an honest 58-60mph.

We were pulling skiers the same day. Granted all were in decent shape.

The motor on the above pictured boat is a 300 Pro, not a 300R. I can only assume that is for 2 reasons, (1) ease of rigging, and (2) the availability of the 300R. I am in the process of picking power for my new ride, and I’m telling you that when you see all the BS needed to rig the 450s, it will make you think twice about selecting them. I don’t personally like the exposed steering ram on the 300R, but also don’t want to be hung out to dry with 400s when Merc discontinues them. But all of that extra rigging of a 300R, 400, or 450 adds big costs, plus the additional price of the motor.

You guys can all banter about what should power it, but we can only assume ICB was targeting a certain customer, and that customer is not the guy who needs to go 70+ MPH on the regular. Can they do it, most likely, but the upgrade in price from the current 300 on the boat, to a 300R is going to be a large percentage, to a 400 is going to be huge, and a 450 is going to insane. They selected a power package that is attractive towards to customer base they targeting.

300r and 300 pro are basically the same motor. 300r has a redline of 6400 vs 6200 on the pro. Price is the same.

Yep. One is Merc Racing branded the other is Merc standard.
Ran through this with Bob at Shockwave (300r vs 300proxs). Made zero sense to do the 300 Pro from a cost and performance standpoint. Thinking maybe Troy had a lead on the pro XS, as there were a couple floating around, in order to get the boat done for the show. I could have gotten my hands on a 300r if we agreed to build a boat for the show. Right now BOTH motors are 6-8 months out. 400r and anything Verado is the most readily available right now.

A 300 r or xs can use traditional cables for rigging unlike the 400 and 450 that require all the digital controls.

Looks like a great buy, I'm really surprised that it's getting the billet bases and glove box at that price. They may stay a good buy, but wouldn't expect to stay this price for too long.

On "PowerBoatNation", they posted a short interview with ICB at the boat show. Quick walk around of the 25ft OB, and the other two. Mentioned a customer wanting a closed bow built. Sorry, don't know how to do links. Only a 3-4 minute vid, but puts a face to the name, and different angles to view the boats.

...and the interviewer was Teague.

budget and boating don’t belong in the same sentence :)

I think I understand what you mean but I 100% disagree with your statement. I have no problem with somebody paying $1,000,000 for a boat if they can afford it but I have a huge issue with somebody paying $100,000 for a boat when they can't make their house, car, credit cards (in full) payments.

I know this is probably going to hurt somebody’s feelings - So sorry in advance, lol. If you have to make installment payments on a boat you Can’t afford it!!!

that is where we disagree.
What other people due with their money is their business. If they can afford it or not, it is none of my business.

Nice lookin group of heathens :D and yeah, your boat does just fine with the power that it has. More power is always nice/desired but not always needed.

So your lack of budget statement applies only to yourself then :)

Maybe, maybe not :)
I still stand by my statement. Boating and budget never agree.
My boating budget has been reallocated to other items the past few years and will continue this year.
