I’ve been wondering after seeing both, what’s the best set up in a 22 or what does everyone prefer.

i prefer dog house as bench with hatch seem to leave no room. Bench and hatch do seem easier to work on things. I have grown up with doghouse and riding in the back as kid or other passenger all seem to like it.

It's a personal preference thing. In a 22' I prefer the doghouse. I grew up in 22' Schiada with the doghouse, both my dads and his friends had the doghouse interiors. He also had a 22' Schiada a few years ago that had the doghouse as well. In the 22' it seems to make better use of the space available. Depending on your motor and drive options it may not work for everyone. It is easier to get in and out of the boat, move around and of course you can accommodate more passengers legally. Now in a 21' there is no question that the two buckets and a bench are the only way to go.
