Yawn... jumped the shark years ago...
I don't know man. It definitely went through a lull during the height of the recession but the last two years at least have been a whole lot of fun with some serious scenery. Lots of big dogs rollin in again. Plus, I just like catching up with everyone and partying. Always a great time.

Funny you should ask Tank.. LOL Just had a Desert Storm meeting yesterday with Christina.

DS wants RDP to combine the after party with the event and do it "on campus" so to speak, so I went down and talked to Christina about that yesterday at LBR.. Realistically the only venue that could work for a crowd that size is Kokomos (which I don't like the vibe of that place to begin with) and it's exposed if the weather comes in.. So long story short, I gotta make some decisions on that immediately if we are gonna change it up, or if we are just keeping it status quo..

No houseboat this year.. After the big cop tie up last year, we can't rent it anymore.. LOL Well realistically we can rent it, but they flat as said that thing isn't leaving the dock with more than 6 people on it, which kinda defeats the purpose of it.. Plus that thing is a pain in the ass.

On the helicopter front, I booked a friends R44 and normaly we buy 2-3 hours of rotor time for the event.. I booked 8 hours so I plan on sending a lot of rdp members up in the bird for various contests and appreciation etc.. that I gotta announce later today.

Booth will be on the same street as it always is, and for right now I have the 42 MTI that you posted earlier (Austin's boat) that will be in it. Not sure what else we are putting in there if anything at all. We will be running that stage that we originally ran (instead of the rocket deal which is what your pictures show from last year) and we will be having MATT FARRIS on the stage at night..

New for 2020, we are doing a Cat Walk off the front of the stage, and I wanted to invite a bunch of industry guys to do interviews on it during the day and live stream it.. Than since we have a 30' Cat Walk off the front of the stage, I wanted to do a Bikini contest at Sundown with some ridiculous prize $$.. Than have the band come on after..

Thoughts?

I like where you're going with this.

I don't know about the party at Kokomo's. I mean I'm sure we're all gonna go no matter where it is but Legendz is a bit more cozy. I haven't been to Kokomo's in at least 10 years LOL. Then again, could be cool over looking the poker run docks and the pool and all. Tough call.

And what's the deal with the cops telling you, you can't leave with more than 6 on board? Is that some Coast Guard bullshit? You can legally only have 6 people on a houseboat? WTF? Probably keep it off the shootout course and I think you'd be ok LOL 😀 😳

Bikini contest? I don't see anything wrong with that. ;)

It isn't the cops it's part of the rental contract.. 6 if the boats moving / 12 if the boat is beached.. There is some coastguard stuff there, but that isn't the problem if you bring enough life jackets etc..

Anyhow long story short it's expensive and a pain in the ass, factor that portion into it and it's a hard pass from me. LOL

Looking forward to going as always. To clarify Dave are you talking about the RDP after party bing open to non RDP people? If so I hope not. I like it being an RDP only event with the exception of sponsors and industry people. It's were you get to meet a bunch of members and put faces to names.

Taking the old man, and can’t wait. Boatless, but it’ll be fun to get away from work for a long weekend.

If you can get a place London Bridge is the host hotel so you'll be right in the mix. The Heat is across the channel. I've hear the new Holiday Inn across the street from London Bridge is pretty nice and walking distance. The Nautical is always a nice stay. We usually just book at a cheap hotel since we always just find ourselves passing out from sun and drinking all day and then getting up and doing it all over again, rarely even being in the room.

Just assume everyone is going and go from there. Lol

I stopped going years ago. Shit weather and shit water just made it miserable for me.

But after hanging out with RD. Stacy, and other members for the Alamo ride, I do want to attend Daves functions maybe this year and hang out with everyone since I had such a blast at the Alamo event.

I like the way you think @Tank especially if it’s just me and the boat this year.

Are you guys splashing and pulling your boats every day? Feels like the ramps will be a shit show during such a high volume week.

Depends on where you're launching and what time. Peak hours like 10ish and sunset ramps are a cluster f*ck.

I'm not sure what exactly we're going to do with the boat. May side tie to a buddy for the weekend. May just pull it out. Kind'a just gonna wait and see. I think you can still reserve docks at the main marina if you don't want to hassle with launching and retrieving every day.

I'll see all of you at Desert Storm. I'm definitely looking forward to it again this year! As for combining the party, although I don't post much I am loyal RDP Party Attendee and have been every year I am at Desert Storm...its a do not miss for me! I like the idea of combining the party if its the RDP Desert Storm Closing Party or something like that...Almost all the attendees and sponsors are at the RDP Party anyway, so whatever you decide its going to attract the largest crowd. Good Luck RD, I'm looking forward to the weekend!

I am not sure what the cross over is...

my main concern is capacity / $$ / and possible problems

hot damn @Tank! some of those old pics familiar! good times!

I just reminded the wifey today that WE R going (and for her to feel free to invite friends), however I have not attended the after party for several years and will prolly follow that trend again this year (need to get back to work on Sunday morning).

I dug DEEP into the well of DS pics. 🤘
We're actually thinking of staying til Monday this year instead of heading back Sunday. Then we can lounge around and recover all day Sunday.
