Wife misplaced one of her keys and I would like to get a replacement but want to avoid a dealership dick tax. What is the best route to go as I have never had to deal with the remote type keys.

If it’s not too old a vehicle.

Start with Keylessentryremote.
They had what we needed and didn’t rape us.

I bought two recently, for our 2018 Suburban and 2015 Silverado, from these guys:

https://www.yourkeylessremote.com/

$35 for a new fob / $25 refurb
$10 per key

The dealer had to program it for the Suburban, it’s too new, I was told.
But a local locksmith programmed it for the Silverado.

Ours is a 2013, but another vote for ace hardware. It was way cheaper and they programed it for me.

I should add that the local locksmith charged me $40 to program the Silverado.

Dealer didn’t charge for the suburban because it was missing a key when we bought it...but they said its usually $120.

Batteries Plus. Wife just had a laser cut switch blade type key done there for her acura. It was 1/3 dealer price and fob is OEM.
