Ok. Here is the current trailer condition. It was sandblasted and primer ed at master powdercoaters.

It's going back to get imron. Charcoal grey with some stripper glitter in it. Gonna paint the bilge the same paint.

Here is where the trailer is currently. Welded washers about every foot along 3 rails for brake lines and wiring. There's about 110 of them. Have grommets that fit them so everything should be tidy.

Also some pics of the motors I just picked up from obnoxious. Nothing really hi power, just 70 over stroked to 598. Barry says they should be a 500 or a little over.

I'm not quitting that's for sure. Just need a month or so to save up for the paint for the trailer.

I drilled 5 or 6 more holes for the 3/4 inch flush mount lights. Going with the 3 wire ones so the whole side of the trailer will flash brighter when I hit the turn signals.

Well picked the trailer up from powder coater.

Some progress. And it's boating content.

Great thread just got caught up. The time and effort you have into this thing is impressive. Well done saving ac classic. Did the extra bulkhead get rid of the flex?

If your still in trabuco and ever need someone to hand you tools while drinking your beer let me know. I'm just down the road in lake forest.

I'm gonna do a shameless plug for the guys that did the trailer.

Master powdercoater. These guys have the biggest oven in southern kommifornia. I think the closest one in kommifornia is frisco area and it's still a little smaller.

Good price great job. Kevin, the owners son and the guy who runs it is young. But he knows his shit.

Go see them.

Ok. So tim from porterfield came out today to put the wilwoods on the trailer. They fucking looked bitchin.

However. The rotors were to big and it put the calipers out to far so the wheels wouldn't go on. So back to the drawing board.

Nah, not bad, just has to drill some new holes, and dig through the book to fund a rotor about an inch smaller in diameter. Tim has some pictures, I'll get him to send them and then post them.

So here is what they are gonna look like

Sucks. The wheels won't fit with them. Need an inch smaller diameter rotor and drill some new holes in the brackets.

It's nice all right, way cool. I've only used wilwoods in off-road applications and they stop on a dime so it should tow real nice.

Getting further along slowly. Bilge and and inside of hatch are in primer. Tomorrow they are getting painted same color as trailer. Here's some pics

Here are the tanks. You guys are gonna laugh cause I painted them with flex seal. Wanted a water barrier that wouldn't fail. Shit is actually suprisingly strong. I tried to scrape it off after it cured overnight. I couldn't even scratch any of it off.

Have any updated pics of the trailer? What wheels did you go with? Great thread. Need updated pics of the current boat status as well. Great restore job on this classic.

This the blow out. Kept the same wheels. I like them. 14 inch. Thinking of upgrading to some 15 10 inch wide wheels like on the general lee.

The wildwood work great. But need a master cylinder that pushes more fluid. Only needed for panic stops.

Looking good Phil. I’ve been working on my 32 every Saturday as well. Yesterday was a bit toasty. But I did get the bilge pumps wired and all the water and oil lines run. Lots of swear words yesterday working under the motors.

I used yesterday to trace what wires went to what and labeled them. Then today I've been hooking every thing up. So I now have bilge blowers, bilge pumps, nav lights and should have dash lights.

Waiting on hatch relay, trim tab parts and starters. Hopefully they get here this week. Or at least get shipped this week.

I also put the bilge pumps on a relay so power only needs a short run.

So spent the weekend crewing for purple haze racing. So didnt get much done. But I did get one of the new starters in. They dont fit the hole exactly so had to sand the hole larger with a barrel sander. Seems to be good. Gonna run battery cables for the one engine tomorrow.

Battery was pretty low but at least the starter solenoid was clicking when I hit the button. Battery on charger now.

Please let me know how their starters work out for you. I had read in multiple places that you needed special flywheels to make use of top mounts.

It's not necessarily a special fly wheel. The ring gear on it needs to be moved to the back of the flex plate instead of the front. Any machine shop can do it for you. I originally had top mount so just had to measure for right starter depth.

Starters so far work good. Have not actually started the engines yet but have turned one over for several seconds. No fuel yet so no start.

I’m gonna run 3. One starter battery per motor and then an isolated house battery. My battery switches handle all the isolation and optional paralleling of the batteries. Probably won’t even run the 3rd battery for a while. Would still leave me 2 batteries for startup

That's what I'm doing with the 4. Gonna have a third battery switch to join the 2 banks incase of alternator failure or just need to charge other bank. 140 amp alternators should be able to handle that.

Finished all the initial wiring. Everything works except the anchor light. Think it's the build though. Got in my new exhaust hoses. Just need to pick up some clamps for them. Need some brass fittings for one motor. Need to clean up the wiring and mount my terminal blocks under dash.

She's almost ready for a shakedown.

You might want to keep an eye on the rubber exhaust hose with that slight bend in it. In my previous boat I had a similar slight bend in the hose and due to the heat build up on WOT runs in the exhaust/water, it blew a hole in the hose at the bend. If that happens, you may want to have some SS tubing fabricated to get you past the bend. Good luck on the shakedown. Looks awesome!

I was kinda thinking about that also. If it does, with my replacement trim tabs, I can move them down. Dont want to unless something happens. But I can if it becomes an issue. Old tabs the transom bracket was to big. So I understand their placement. But those had cracks in the hinge and i now have kiekofher ones. The bracket is way smaller.

Just got back from the river. Port engines runs fine. Just need to idle it down a little. The new top mount gear reduction starter on the starboard engine won't disengage the bendix when it starts. So keeps spinning starter which pulls down the rpm till it dies.

Any ideas on this?

It's not that the starter stays engaged, I think it's only the bendix
