Hey all my names brian, I'm new to boats and just purchased my first one over the weekend. What i know of it is that its a 1968 18' mandella, and it has a 427 BBC, to the best of my knowledge and acording to the previous owner the boat is all original. it has been sitting for years, I'm Looking forward to getting it ready for the water and learning as much as i can about these old boats.

Probably the most solid flat bottom you will ever ride in. I just sold mine.

My uncle had a Mandella as a kid, my first real ride in a boat! Looks like you have scored a clean start[emoji106]

Looks to have an Aeromarine branded marine package based on the T-stat housing. You may want to look into ditching that setup as the belt driven sea water pump is a true pain in the ass to deal with as it mounts thru the front (engine front) mount. Damn near impossible to change impellers in that thing. And depending on where you boat, a T-stat usually isn't needed.

Nice find!

Congrats. That's a nice boat. We have 4 in the family. It started with my father-in-law in 1963. It was his recovery gift to himself after he broke his back in a fall in 1962. That boat is still in the family.

Nice boat.
IF it hasn't been started in years you might want to prime the oil pump BEFORE you try to start it.
IF you don't know how to do that OR don't want to at least change the oil and filter, pull all of the spark plugs and turn it over for about 30 seconds first. then put the plugs back in a nd fire it up.

That's a great boat, and Mandella's have an almost cult following behind them!! Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the forum!
