i scored a set of k-planes recently and im totaly stoked. they should make everything work together great...

my only issue is where to mount them transom wise. I'm going to mount them straight on the transom not angled at the furthest point so just the tips will be in the water as a set of 280 planes will be waaay more than enough for my size boat. i was going to put a swimstep onto the back of the boat but im thinking that it might just make more sense to have people use the plane as a step to get in/out. also id have to figure out how to do a bracket to mount the steps.

will it be okay to use the planes to stand on? my dads old vdrive we used to stand on the cav plates all the time to get in/out but it also had like 3 turnbuckles supporting it where we were standing.

ideas?

Mine are used as a step. (11 years now) Actually, the left one is wired to a separate switch at the platform to lift and lower. It's like an elevator.

No problem at all. They do get slippery, so a few pieces of surfboard foam traction material is a good idea.

They work great as steps. Mine are mounted the same as you plan and we use them to get on the swim step a lot.
