CANT WAIT! Who’s going??

230 boats registers as of last week. I’m guessing the record of 265 from 2019 will be broken. Everything is sold out. Prices are insane because of demand. On like donkey Kong!!

Who’s in?

Pics will follow! @RiverDave you going?!

Some guys just can’t decide - outboard? Inboard? Fuck it! Both!
I'd do it in a heartbeat!
After seeing a 340x in person for the first time, I like them.
But there is something about the roar of twin big blocks...

Yes myself and my film guy are riding down with H20 Toie. Stacy is flying in to KW
Oh shit! Doing the whole shibang! Good to hear. It’s gonna be a record setting event. Everyone’s on board for races this year too. Gonna be insane.

I always say everyone should make the run down via big offshore boat at least once. Bucket list item fir sure. 😉

Reminisce of the last time we were all there. 😉

Yep. Dan's doing the 150 mile run via boat down. It's a GREAT run. Beautiful scenery, cool stops at Key Largo and Islamorada. Done it a bunch of times but now-a-days, I just want to get there and chill. While the boating down is a blast and everyone should do it at some point, it's a long fuckin day. Basically, you're up at 7am to check out and go down to the drivers meeting at 8. Get coffee and bagels, get the boats uncovered and ready. Bone out at 10. If you chose to get filmed you wait around near Govn't Cut for the helicopter, then run. By the time you roll into Gilberts / Key Largo, it's nearly noon. You chill there and have the FPC lunch and a couple drinks, get gas if you need. Then you keep on truckin to Islomarada but frankly, 9 times out of 10 you're like, fuck stopping again and you push through for the last 50 miles outside of the inter coastal to KW. Usually roll into KW at 3-4 pm. It's a LONG day on the water, in the sun running hard. Awesome, a lot of fun but like I said, now-a-days, I just want to get to KW and chill. LOL

It is a long day but totally worth it.
And there is a lot to be said about just flying into key west and party.
The sat raft up is a blast, actually the whole weekend is fun, Sunday we normally just take it easy do some shopping, walk around see the sites , that way the ride back up on Monday isn't bad.

miami to key west by boat is 160 miles

Actually its a pretty easy run, the intercostal is pretty smooth, you just have to pay attention to where you are going, I have done it in my 35 cig, 38 cig and a CC., all have been piece of cake.
The water I had last sat going around Anacapa island here in ca was rougher than I have ever seen down there.

But it really should be on every ones bucket list.

To me Key west is a cross between New Orleans and the Caribbean but cleaner and safer

I went just one time to see what it's like and have been going for over a decade now

I noticed the occassional wooden pilons on that video as guys run down..... are they there to funnel you through a channel of some sort? All else looked kinda wide open water.... I have seen some internet pics of go fast boats smashed into them.

South Florida is shallow as FUCK! Especially in the inter-coastal. There's markers usually for every little harbor. The pylons are the "red right return" markers to get you into the harbor and keep you in the dreged portion.

When you're running down the inter-coastal, it's like a highway, literally. The "road" that is dredged is about 50' wide. There are a handful of markers for the dredged "road" but most of them have been knocked out by various hurricanes. So you have to HEAVILY rely on GPS, which shows the route. If you get 20' over off the course, you're in 1' of coral and sand. Then there's the FUCKIN CRAB POTS!! Crab fishermen lay them right in the middle of the route and you have to doge them. They use stout lines too that will fuck a prop up. You're out running the inter-coastal at 80-90 mph WAAAAAAAY off in the distance is land and islands through the keys and it looks like you can go where every you like, but you absolutely can NOT!

However, it really is a spectacular destination via performance boat in some of the most beautiful scenic area to run.

More pics of our runs down there:

KW. Coming up.
I'd like to ask about $$$$.... now i understand this is several notched above a weekend away anywhere. But Jeeeez.
Yes, as of today, 10/22, you can still find rooms on KW. Cheapest or so we found, Hilton Garden Inn at the airport. $500.00 before ridiculous fees and texes, about another short $200.00 pr nite.
Nicer place, beach, big pool is at the south end of Simonton (name???) at the south end of the island. Straight opposite Sloppy joes. $1100.00 before taxes and fees..... Too far to walk.
Airfare for us? Chicago? $900.00 ea X 2.
I just cant justify spending $6000.00 for 4 days. We were gonna fly in on Thurs morn, seats available, and leave on Sun.
I could take my wife to a 5 star resort in the carribean for a week for half that !
God bless you all going, please be safe. Everybody comes home hungover & sunburnt. post pix. again i say..... not this year.

Totally agree plus it adds up big time taking a boat
I decided to do it one time just to see what the big deal was
Been coming back ever since
No pics or video are going to express the reality of being there
I’ll put off other things just to go, save , skimp but nothing like it

And don't forget the cover fees for all the "Lifestyle" events.... they add up..... or so a friend told me. Might just not be your trip to make.
