I will hop in here and add my two cents.
I looked into the first stream smart box, and came really close to buying one. In the end I decided to build one myself.

All these boxes are using software/accounts that are readily available outside of their proprietary all-in-ones.

Go buy yourself a Amazon Fire tv, or better yet a Nvidia shield and load it yourself off supreme builds YouTube channel. 20 mins tops.

Real-debrid is ~$3 a month, way worth it (even if you have the streamsmart)

If you want live TV, it’s ~$6-10 a month from the many choices. I only keep it for Redzone and Disney Jr for the kid.

Haven’t paid for cable in over two years, and still running!

Why would you need a mac to set it up? It's all there just install kodi from the playstore. Then add your repositories.

Nope it's a full android setup. Just need to create a Google account or use the one from your phone if it's android. Does help to have a wireless keyboard though.

I have the Renegade RG6 Pro that Dave's friend Dave sells. It auto-updates about once a week and keeps all the apps going on its own. That was worth the extra money right there. By the way anyone that has an RG6 to RGX we are in good shape.. how you tell what you have is another story and I am working on a simple solution for that.

A RG6 Pro will say Renegade right on top. If it's running now, it should be on version 1.96. That was the latest updates as of this morning.

Im debating what to do. Ive bought 3 boxes since the beginning. Fought through my favorite apps being changed and deleted since day one. Sure they have paid for themselves over and over but to buy a 4th is getting lame. Might be time to try this Firestick route depending on the resolve offered.

I get that. I’m sure if I put a little effort into it I could build and maintain a nice box myself, but as I’ve said before I’m willing to pay a premium for someone else to do the legwork. That’s what I don’t think the DIY’ers understand, they only see the price tag and scoff at it.

It will change all your screens but it’s worth it if you use live tv or watch ppv events. If you don’t then do pay it.

And thats also part of my confusion. Why upgrade the old s3 types to the same pro boxes we already have. I thought that kodi technology sucked and this new bullet thing that isnt part of the offer is the way to go.

You pay. They email you the directions on what to do to update it. Pretty straight forward.

I just came across Filelinked.com. It’s an app downloader and has a revised version of Terrerium called Cyberflix and it works awesome. Just watched the new A Star Is Born with no buffering..... but it was subtitled in Korean.

Oh, don’t forget to download a player, I use VLC for Fire.

I call BS. I think the new ownership claim is all BS and the principals are just changing names periodically to avoid warranty and/or drop certain apps to get people to buy updates and new boxes. This would be at least the 3rd owner since I bought a Streamsmart last year. It supposedly was bought out by Streamstation who said anyone with problems has to buy a new box. Then a couple months ago a bunch apps drop-off including live TV stuff and now its supposedly owned by Infinite Streams who says a $50 update is needed to return your box back to normal service that we originally had and were promised? This is a racket! Sure I've got to see a bunch of movies and some PPV events that probably cost more $$ than box, but I've also had a bunch of headaches with it than I never had with DirecTV and PPV. I don't believe these guys are being forth coming with the truth, they're lying and taking advantage of us. That pisses me off. Rant over.

its kind of part of the game. Going back to cards in satellite boxes and boosting open cable. What are you really going to do...complain to someone that your attempts to steal movies and cable and not working? Of all the years I've done it, you win some you lose some. Like you said, most of us can agree that we've far surpassed the costs of the boxes in PPV and movies, and if you cut cable then you've really made out. yea it comes with headaches, and sometimes you get hosed on a PPV...but all in all considering what it is, its still usually in the black in the end.

I have a SS Pro and it started having issues. I reluctantly paid for the $50 upgrade. It now works great with live tv, UFC fights and everything else it used to have. If you don't upgrade it will slowly deteriorate as the media players and such won't be supported or upgraded anymore. I cut the cord years ago so another 50 is ok with me as long as it doesn't keep reoccurring. If you have a Pro I highly recommend the upgrade.

Follow my tutorial on the first page. App called titanium. Its a terrarium clone. I used to be a huge kodi fan. But Titanium app just plain works and is super user friendly vs kodi. It works on ANY android sets. (fire tv's, nvidia shield)

This $50/box upgrade is what I did late October. Wasn't thrilled but we really can't complain about the cost considering we have had zero issues for almost 2.5 years from the initial purchase. If you do don't install the krypton version, it will have audio issue and I confirmed this with their tech support. I reset with the Jarvis build and the sound issue went away.

What did I get? A box that works now....... I know nothing about this shit. I watched the local news, Ms Universe, and a movie that both Netflix and prime wanted 5 or 10 bucks to watch. The porn apps are back in action and better than ever as well!

I have 2 Pro's and reinstalled using the Jarvis build because of the audio issue in krypton. The Pro will update infinity.tv and the Pro Plus will update streamstation, this is normal as I have emailed them to confirm after doing a friends 2 Pro plus's and our kids 1. I did the new boxes with Jarvis too as I did not want to get krypton done and find out it was not good either. Installing again is easy, just time consuming. I did not notice any different addons, it just fixed the live tv that stopped working, kind of like a key was missing. The other thing to keep in mind is now it is running Jarvis and could run krypton. I do not believe the old build was that far up to date but I'm not positive.

Sent them back he said there was nothing wrong with either and he personally tried them. He sent me two new boxes. I got them and I got one that was a brick and one that flickered.. lol. I tried explaining that he must have sent me back the same ones but long story short I more or less got blown off.

I still have the flickering one. The brick after trying everything possible to get it off the boot screen on start up I just threw it away.

I can confirm the 2 he sent you were garbage for anyone the speculates. We got lucky with him, our friends have 3 total and our kids 1, all work well.

Well that sucks. If I would've known that happened I wouldn't bought shit from Capt SS. If he's blowing you off then I'm pretty sure everyone else on here that has a problem is going to get fucked into updates or replacements too.
