Just cruising the Intercoastal this time of year is great, good weather and numerous outstanding restaurants and bars with docks. For that aspect of Boating it is the best in the country.

I'm actively trying to convince my wife to abandon the boating program here and setting up something in S. Florida. We would boat less, but I think the epic boating scene there would make up for it.

I can tell you - you would not boat less!

My buddy has a condo (250k) with a 300 a month HOA and a slip fee of $60 a month for a 40ft boat 100 yards from his front door. He can boat every day or take the boat to dinner etc - I’m going crazy with how affordable this is for the most epic boating any place in the world IMO...

The wheels are turning 😊

This is exactly what I'm talking about. The reason I say we would boat less is we would stay here in SD as our primary residence so in order to go boating there would be a 6 hour flight involved. The $60 slip fee is comical....I pay $600 here in SD on Harbor island for a 30 foot slip. We're headed to the Keys in March so I'm definitely gonna take a day or two to look around at boating options.

@Tank it turns out the place we ran the boat today was Boca Lake. Just north of Ft Lauderdale. Nice short run outside the inter coastal then back in at Boca - there is a nice bay area where boats like to anchor and hang out. When we dropped anchor it was about 7’ deep.

Perfect spot for afternoon beers!

Oyster Bar, outstanding fresh seafood, warm weather and ice cold beer. Try to find that on a Friday afternoon? Well, we got the beer. Lol

Looks like fun. It appears that you don't need a real big boat to have a good time. Would you agree @sirbob ?

Totally agree - most of the boats we passed in the intercostal or even outside in big blue were less than 30ft.

Frankly I was surprised how many 16-20 ft boats were outside the inter coastal - mostly small little fishing boats with a couple people and some rods.

While I saw a bunch of big boats docked, I mostly took pics of the boats that were just cruising around.

I started spending some time boating in South Florida about 10 years ago. As soon as I found out how easy it was to boat to the Bahamas, the Keys, and just the boat scene in South Florida you really will never find boating like it anywhere.

I've been back to LHC one time in the last 2 years for boat service and boating off the coast here in Santa Barbara cant even come close. Catalina is cool, your area, New port, but nothing like South Florida and its surrounding areas.

I've actually in the last few years done a bit of boating in the FT Myers area and really liked it. I also hear the Destin FL area is nice.

All my wife wants to do now when it comes to boating, South Florida and the Bahamas. She's not a fan of Key west, likes Key largo and its surrounding areas, but the keys not her first choice for sure. Me, I love the keys.
