One day I'm going to own a Cole, there's something very special about those boats.

95' Cole Superhawk, Jim gladly took this one back and displayed it at the LA Boatshow while he was building me the 98' 220. Not sure where it went after the show ?

98' Cole 220 (Aka Nighthawk) still have this one, looks as good as the day I took delivery. I occasionally ponder if I'll ever bring myself to sell it, or is it destined to become a future Barnfind ? :D
Of course my son just hopes I'll someday forget I even own it :D

Here is my dads Cole. Original owner. 1982 Mini Cruiser that came powered with a 175 Black Max but was upgraded 2 years ago to a 200 Optimax.

I'm pretty sure that Cole was a hot boat magazine cover boat in the 80s? If it wasn't on the cover I know it was a featured boat, in an article, at some point. That gel coat design always stood out for me & at that time was one of the sweetest looking boats on the water & still is! Great looking boat![emoji106]

It is funny that you say that. When I was a kid, my uncle bought me a subscription to Powerboat Magazine when I was 3. Fast forward and I am about 8 or 9 years old, still reading Powerboat Magazines every morning when I would eat breakfast. So one day I go with my dad to drop off some jewelry to Jim at the shop in Chatsworth. I start asking Jim questions about our boat and he mentioned that it was in a magazine back when it was new. He couldn't remember which one at the time, which is odd because I would think that if your boat is featured in a magazine you would have it framed and displayed at the shop somewhere. Anyway. I get home and since I only subscribe to Powerboat, I write them a letter asking about our boat being on the cover or featured in the magazine back in 1982. A few weeks pass and I get a package in the mail from Powerboat. Enclosed was a letter stating that they couldn't find any articles, covers...etc on my families boat, but they did find some magazines featuring the Cole Firestar, which they sent to me along, with a 25th Anniversary Hat and T shirt. I still have those 1982 Powerboat magazines they sent to me and when I went to their booth at the boat show that year, I introduced myself and they gave me a copy of the 25th Anniversary pictorial, which I still have today. I never wrote to Hotboat and have tried to search their online archives without luck. It would be awesome, if it was featured, to get a copy of that magazine.

I didn't even know they made an outboard Cole. That's pretty awesome. How does it run? I gotta imagine since those hulls are pretty efficient it runs pretty well.

The outboards are rare, they made a few in the early 80's, that was about it from what I understand. The Firestar was an outboard too.

The boat has fixed tabs and a center skeg on the hull. Handles like a freaking dream. The 175 was bored to a 200 and the boat would run in the high 60's, low 70's with gas, gear and a 21 pitch 3 blade. With a prop change and less weight, it would come close to 80.

We USED this boat, used to ski all day behind it. When he upgraded to the Optimax he sold the 175 and it is still running today.

I always loved the 250's.. One of my favorite boats of all time, and one of the few bigger boats that can put up BIG #'S without ridiculous power..
