Hey guys,

Looking for a Max5 for a 28 Howard Sds. Running a merc 600 w/stage 3 whipple kit. Debating between a 27 or 28. Mostly looking for lower rpm at cruising speed. My 28 bravo 1 has a lot of slip and doesn’t plain worth a damn.

If anyone has one for sale and or thoughts/experience on pitch it’d be much appreciated!

Where do you boat? It not exact but i have a 15 3/8 26p Max5. If you run around needles and I’m around when you’re out you’re welcome to try it.

I would try at least a 28 . The Maximus props run great with that hull. Try a 28 short tube Maximus. They are proven with that package. I have a sportdeck and run a 32 Maximus. Stage 4. I have tested the Max 5 and it was a good prop but a touch slower for me. Bravo 1s are not that good compared to the Max or Maximus 5 blades. Not even close to the performance

We boat in havasu. I appreciate it, may take you up on that. Not sure when we’re out again with baseball. Definitely let you know.

Thanks

Wow a 32p seems big. Is it sluggish out of the hull and midrange?

Not at all..I hold back on the throttle.. remember I have a stage 4 kit.. I would recommend you go with a 29 of you are going to buy one. Try to borrow a Maximus to test.. should be a bunch of 28s out there. A 28 will also work but you may hit the rev limiter in cooler weather.

If you carry heavier loads and are just a cruiser the 28 will be fine. If you want to go a few clicks faster the 29 may be a good choice. Either one will be much faster than the B-1 and both will pull much harder all around
