I want to light up my trailer so when I put the boat on at night I can see the fenders and bunks. What is everyone using for this? I was thinking several white leds placed on the inner framing would do the trick.

I'm going to use this Sea Choice bilge pump float in an aluminum project box with a few holes drilled in the bottom and top so it floods upon launching and an override switch to keep em lit when "necessary". I will be mounting this box under a step with white 3/4" LEDs drilled into the top of the trailer and mounted flush.

I found my lights on eBay.

Ingenuity at its finest right there.

I bought some TecNiq 3/4” leds i got 3 red, and 11 amber, will just be wired to the running lights. Three across rear red then three rows of three in amber then two individual in center front of the boat.

When I first started boating I would always have trailer lights going out. I mentioned it to i don’t even remember. Wherever we bought the boat in Newport. Gone now. But anyways they said you should unplug the lights from the truck before dunking the trailer. I never did it but always wondered.

I almost always get off the water after dark, and this has never been an issue.

I had virtually this exact same setup on my last boat it worked great for a couple of seasons then started requiring float changes every season or two. I could never count on it to work.

On the trailer I just finished for my new boat I used the same lights and just wired them to switchs. 1 for the trailer and 1 for the ladder and cabinets

What did you do to power them? I intended to just use the truck and have mine color coordinated to the clearance/driving lights but.....
I just used the aux. On the trailer connector to the truck to rrun 12v to my eoh brake setup in the cabinet and to the switches to power the lights. There led so the power draw is next to nothing

Gotcha.... I’m surge not EoH. Only reason i want aux power is i keep thinking to go with the Trux dual led instead of these i already bought. I’d leave same way for clearance/driving but able to be blue while parked. I actually thought to do similar switch as you did, up under my top step but power is the pita unless i can use aux power wire off truck while stopped and off I’ll have to play and see.

I like that idea

On my duramax the aux is factory hot all the time.

If yours isnt you could run a fused hot wire back to the connector and swap them?

On my flat bed, enclosed, and stacker I ran I seperate wire back to the hitch that I connect as needed with a seperate plug for lighting, winches, and lift but those are high amp accesories

If you’re running a 7 way plug on your trailer, there’s a +12v circuit already there. Usually used as a “house light” circuit for travel trailers, Sometimes only hot when key is on. Would be perfect to run to a switch for the landing lights. (Black in this picture)
