Does anyone know anything about this thing? Talked to the owner and the boat has a good story but I can't find more information on it. 80 hours on 496HO/entire boat. New interior, sound, detailed, fully serviced. I'd like it more if it was an MCOB but overall it looks real nice....I just don't know what it is. The owner said it was based on a Cobra hull, and these were only made in 2007 and 2008.

Oh my. Here we go again. Lol. I hit the link but didnt work. My opinion is stay away. I looked atvthem.back in 07 and took two minutes to walk away and not go back.

Now with that said , I am not bashing the lighting boats , saying not for me.

I would keep looking around unless your sold on it ...

Good luck [emoji41][emoji202]

Lot's of history with the Lightning brand can be found on here. That hull doesn't look too familiar to me. Looks pretty nice, but at almost 50k that puts you into Hallett 240/255 territory which you would be better off IMO. Good luck

I've seen and worked on a few in my California days. From what I've seen they seem to be pretty decent boats. I think his ask is a bit steep though.

Also as a mechanic, Imo, low hour boats are worse the high hour boats. I'd want to see at least 250hrs on that boat to be comfortable with it. It will have gremlins that will haunt you for the first couple years

If it was 28k I would say consider it. My Ultra I bought new was from the location that became lightning. Numerous rigging issues. Hull was solid and the power plant rest they rigged.

The more time I spend looking at it, the less it seems like a 2007 hull...possibly something a bit older that sat for awhile? I just can't figure out what it is. The owner says it's a 26-27 foot Cobra hull but it doesn't seem like it to me.

I would worry about the starter and flywheel at 80 hours.

I now have a 26' Cobra it is not. Looks like the old Ultra 247 hull. Was around 60k new for 1 from Lightning back then.

It is not the Lightning 23XS, which was a Cobra Razor 230/Ultra 23XS and it does not look like the stepped version of that hull either (247XS) it’s definitely not a Cobra mold.. at least not that model of Lightning.

Yeah that front long bow rail does not ring a bell for any of the Lightning hulls. But if he pays 48k for it I might have to list my Cobra for $65K

Probably.
I know he did a few for Renegade, heck he did a 21 Skier for Eliminator once. A noob salesman wrote a deal on a 20ski, but the molds were already gone, lol.

Dont know what hull that is but it looks like a wave crusher. No steps deep v no pad should ride really well. Trade off will be speed. For that price there are some really nice boats out there with bigger power.

Very few on here have actual experience with them and only speak on what they know from here. I bought one in 06, it was a good boat and I never had an issue. Paid $54k with a 496mag.

We bought one brand new in 2005 and we absolutely loved it. Never had an issue and probably had the nicest gel coat I have seen on any priced boat.

With that being said, I truly can see a 23 foot version with a 6.2 or 496 from the mid 2000s really being worth more than 30 to 40k.

Couple photos of it. I know flames are out of date, but I still think this boat looked so good.

Granted, I did detail the shit out of this thing before the lake, at the lake after the lake, during the week...:D hahaha

Been 19 years but 818 834 2775 If I recall. I must of called them several hundred times. Another guy gavin worked there drove a little box car scion type that just came out. Jason ran the place Brad's buddy he drove a black dually and a land cruiser. The nightmare of buying a new boat :)

Funny our deal was simple and smooth. I have heard others didn't have the same experience. We gave a small deposit, boat was done on time and perfect.

$48k is pretty steep. My 2006 247XS with a Merc 496 Mag and Bravo 1 is great. Well made, quality build. Dana, Gaffrig, Garmin, etc., all stainless screws bolts and hardware. Rides pretty well. Had it since 2008 and still running strong at~200 hours. It's a fun little hot rod that looks good and is fun to drive. Slightly challenging for beginners to ski behind.

I'm less than thrilled with the Mercury Marine nickel and diming me to death. But then again, it is a BOAT.

Start a new LAM thread with pics of the new boat. I think since you got a new boat you get a shirt, but don't quote me.

I have an Ultra 247 as well That is NOT a 247

I have only seen 1 or 2 lightnings. The few I did see didn't seem to be rigged very well and the future and finish was not great. On a bad note, there was a lightning with my EXACT gel but with different colors A total copy that didn't make me happy.
