well after all the re-rigging and new engines the airfilters wont fit. we measured but, not good enough:rolleyes: so here's the deal. the scoops are now mounted from the bottom of the hatch surface. by moving them up to the top i would only gain 3/4 of an inch and run into problems with the upholstery. i was concidering some "L" channel and screwing it to the sides but my fear there is if girls sit on the scoops (we all know how this happens) they would break. any ideas?? thanks

Post pics of the problem.. I thought you were ditching teh scoops and just finishing the "holes" in the engine hatch nice?

it wont look right dave. i still have to pull the hatch off to show pix of the scoop mounting. if i could have sent back the other airfilters and exchanged for 4x 9" units the problem would be solved. im not going to hang 1k worth of airfilters in the garage as art:rolleyes:
i took this pic to show how much the scoops slope to the back where the problem is.

Last time I did what you are doing, i had to cut the scoop, add about 1.5" worth of glass to the center, then go from the bottom up.

I still don't understand why you can't just take the scoops off and then have a billet trim ring machined on the hatch where they were?

Remove scoop from engine cover! figure out the distance needed to clear the blower. Cut the back of the scoop off/ cut down to match Rad on scoop. Reglass back of scoop/ file down/ primer/ paint to match the red. Or gel to match the gel on the scoop. This Terry's Custom Painting in Daimond Bar Ca. Email [email protected] day time. or cell 909-957-8116 you have more opps. Would need more pictures!!
Have a good one Terry scoop chg..jpg

What size center screw? I just need a couple of diameters, and their pretty easy to make. Just round billet housings correct?
