Does anybody have a decent car they are looking to sell? We need something to get our daughter through college. Looking in the $5-7k range.

I'm having an FBI auction (actually a few) over the next few weeks. we sell old stock for the FBI as they rotate there equipment out. 06 07 08 09 is usually the years and 99% are at 100k +/- miles. depending on the buyers that are their and the market. they go from 1000 to 15k with most between 4 to 7k. I believe we are doing an auction of 25 cars on the 14th of June. I won't be there but it's open to the public. we will be having multiple auctions of 25 cars until late they are gone. we have 80 in the yard right now and still need to get 40 more from the LA office.

Where is the auction? Do they have a list of what will be there?

If you go import in that price range get a more maintenance free timing chain setup, not belt. There are a handful of 2.0 and 2.4's that are chain. Last thing you want to deal with is a 900 timing belt.

I would look into an Explorer for that price range. 4.0 or 4.6. Safe, decent mileage, reliable.

I'd lease one of these for her http://www.toyota.com/prius or http://www.toyota.com/corolla/ , co-sign get her credit started. Have a safer more reliable car that likely would cost less to insure with zero service cost. Take the money you are going to pay cash for the old car and put it in account for the payment to come out of automatically every month, do a lease that gets her through college. The old car will be worth nothing after college anyway. :thumbsup
