A deal like this . . . . All is great until it's not. Then it goes to shit real quick if something bad were to happen. Some have hit on the licensed Captain deal, but Boat Cop's very correct mention of the 11 passengers moving this deal into the USCG Inspected Vessel world seems to have been over looked by most. 6 passengers or less can legally be carried for hire on an uninspected vessel. Interesting, but somehow it has been decided it's ok to put 6 people at assumed risk on a boat not CG inspected, but you better not mess with 7 or more.

We have moved on no ones driving... the fun police killed it.

They look to be having a good time. They went to bunker bar today in the RZR’s. Tomorrow’s the lake day.

The six-passenger rule was put in after small maritime business chimed in. Requiring full license, inspection, certification would have affected Para-Sail operations, Ski-schools, even real estate companies taking clients on water-side tours of available homes/lots for sale. They would generally be on smaller boats in close-to-shore areas. The boats still have to have all safety equipment and a OUPV* license. (*Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessel)

Really....

I think this one is what he meant 😁
40 , surely you meant another group. Looks like they're having big fun --- cool 👍👍

In the future, looking for a friend to volunteer to act as a DD, not money, no food, nothing.
Officially, same as when I used to take friends Tuna fishing, no money, no fuel, no food, no reimbursements, just a fun day for all.

Is any of the 6 pak required Safety Equipment beyond that required of any other vessel/power boat?

At one point CG LA/LB was considering just taking clients out on your boat was “carrying passengers for higher”. Because they deemed it was done in expectation of future monetary gain. That, IMO, is taking a sensible law to the edge of ridiculous.

Just what equipment is normally applicable to the size vessel. As far as "future Monetary gain", the Casino shuttle boats in Laughlin are free, but are required to have inspections, et al, and licensed Captains, as they are bringing people to their business to spend money. The same was required when Sundance was using its shuttle (actually an old Riverside Casino boat) to bring in customers. Carrying passengers in the hope that they'll eventually give you money or as an inticement to give you money, fits the "for hire" profile for licensing.

Boat Cop - This was back when LA/LB was cracking down on the “bareboat charters” common at the time in their district. Hornblower had yet to arrive in the area.

The “future monetary gain” statement was directed at yacht owners who were entertaining their clients on their privately owned vessels. The CG approach to the casino boat and the Sundance shuttle makes perfect sense, even if passengers don’t have to pay to ride them. Much unlike a private yacht owner taking business friends/clients for a harbor cruise or a day fishing offshore.

Hate to be the downbuz here but if the person is getting paid doesnt he need to be a licensed captain. Granted this could be cash on the downlow, but its when shit goes wrong that its gonna be ugly. Some drunk milf falls off the boat and gets all chopped up. Cops and insurance companies and lawyers get involved and in the depositions its comes out that they paid the guy, no license, he is in a world of hurt.

WOW the responses are all over the place. Seems like it should have been easier for gods sake. Size up the rental and do it or not do it IMO. Carry on...

Glad to see they are having fun and didn't let the failed search of a rdp driver bring 'em down.😎🙂

MoreMoney, let us know how this turns out and make sure you get a pic of the chosen Captain with the girls. I have no doubt your sister and her friends will have a great time.

We need to bring back the 90’s when all was legal and fun. Shit, won’t be long and you’ll need a permit to fart.

I remember Marty and the sundance toon full of chicks running up and down the river getting people to go there back in the 80's, the good ol days.

Damn RDPers what happened? If this was back in the Hot Boat days there would be provocative pictures all throughout this thread. We would have already had a couple people contemplating divorce and this thread would be barking right now...
WOOF WOOF.... I always feel bad for the young bucks who came up through the Politically Correct ages... all they get are stories of the good ole days. Well at least their aged gals throw pussy away like its a hug. They do have that.....and STDs.

My sister is in Havasu with 11 girls for her 40th birthday. They rented a big pontoon and are looking for someone that would drive them to pirates and back. 9am-4ish. Ill pay someone if they are willing to help.

They are well behaved and boaters for the most part. They just don’t want to mess with driving around tomorrow. The guy I had set up flaked last minute.
So dying to know..... is your mom talking to ya today?
