10 people equals sluggish.
Hassle free is a set of tabs.I know it can be done….I’m just looking for a truly hassle-free solution for now
will I need those $2,300 tabs when I drop a 525 in?Hassle free is a set of tabs.
My 27’ Chaparral with 496 and Bravo 3 laughs at a load of 10 and $90k Magic owners with a load of 10 and a 25 second plane period. Face it fellas…our slow as shit turd 496 Magics are cool as shit but they can’t get out of their own way.10 people equals sluggish.
Yes.will I need those $2,300 tabs when I drop a 525 in?
Your hull is designed to plane while a magic is made like a tunnel to get up on top. Weight and a tunnel do not get along. My 27’ Chaparral with 496 and Bravo 3 laughs at a load of 10 and $90k Magic owners with a load of 10 and a 25 second plane period. @Runs2rch
I hear ya…one would think the very obvious problems related to the underpowered 496’s would have been addressed at the factory…Why didn’t Sleek install factory tabs on all 496’s?Your hull is designed to plane while a magic is made like a tunnel to get up on top. I have found that very few boat company’s do very little R&D. On my twin powered toon boat I had to remount my engine brackets and engines 4 inches up. Playcraft said it was up to the dealer how they mounted the engines. Joe in Havasu helped me set the right. good luckI hear ya…one would think the very obvious problems related to the underpowered 496’s would have been addressed at the factory…Why didn’t Sleek install factory tabs on all 496’s?
What kind of R&D were they doing to not realize tabs were an absolute necessity?
I hear that and that shit is mind blowing.I have found that very few boat company’s do very little R&D. On my twin powered toon boat I had to remount my engine brackets and engines 4 inches up. I agree!I hear that and that shit is mind blowing.
These companies put this stuff out there under their brand and it doesn’t even work right… Again, mind blowing.
In the industries I work in you couldn’t get away with that and stay in business very long.
Put on the B3.Took the boat out yesterday and today…..10 adults onboard, 3 yeti’s and a tank and half full…..With the 24 the boat had a 29 second plane time with moving 7 adults to the bow…..44 mph at 5,100rpm in good water/conditions.
These numbers are confusing…I wasn’t really able to run the 22 wide open for very long. (Boat traffic and water conditions) I think I could have turned the 22 to 5,100rpm and got another 2mph.So I’m confused im no prop specialist. What’s the better prop a 24 or 22 for speed with 2 adults 2 kids lol.
Contrary to my numbers….I would think the 24…I wonder if the 24 that came with the boat has been ‘tweaked’.So I’m confused im no prop specialist. What’s the better prop a 24 or 22 for speed with 2 adults 2 kids lol.
55 with 10 people?I had 10 people on the boat this weekend also with a 22 first time I’ve ran it and it e cruised about 3800-4k rpm right at about 43 mph. I got on it once and was able to see just shy of 55.
Yes no bullshit I was shocked. 7 adults 3 kids. Tanks were pretty full day 1 when I did it.55 with 10 people?
Damn that’s impressive. I’ll report back on B3 performance in the next couple of weeks when I get back here to run it.I had 10 people on the boat this weekend also with a 22 first time I’ve ran it and it e cruised about 3800-4k rpm right at about 43 mph. That’s pretty damn solid. I’m guilty of the need to go faster. In hindsight, i would/should have stuck with the Magic. It’s a damn good boat. Reliable as hell package.Yes no bullshit I was shocked. 7 adults 3 kids. Tanks were pretty full day 1 when I did it.
What ratio is in there? I would imagine you will need at least a 24 to reach equal performance of the 22. But you should be able to cut that slip down into the low teens so there could be more speed in it for you as long as the lack of slip doesn’t pull your max RPM down.Damn that’s impressive. I’m just going to bolt the lower leg of the B3 onto my B1 upper. My B1 upper is a 1.5 : 1What ratio is in there? I would imagine you will need at least a 24 to reach equal performance of the 22. Yea we just put a new motor in last season. I told her when this one goes we will drop a 600 in it. I love the magic. That’s pretty damn solid. I’m guilty of the need to go faster. In hindsight, i would/should have stuck with the Magic. It’s a damn good boat. Reliable as hell package.
You will most likely be a 2.0:1 unless you have non-standard gears in the lower. Just keep that in mind when checking your slip. Spin your vertical before you install and you will know for sure. I hope it all works well for you. I dropped my slip from 32% at 50mph to 12% by switching to a 5 blade 28p from a 4 blade 30p. So much nicer to cruise at low RPM.I’m just going to bolt the lower leg of the B3 onto my B1 upper. My B1 upper is a 1.5 : 1
I’ll start with the 26 props and see how they do.

Planning time wasn’t horrible but not great I’m really easy on the drive I slowly kick it up till about 3200 then just let it dig and do its thing. Maybe 15-20 seconds if I had to guess? The 24 is about the same when it’s just my wife myself and our 2 small kids.Very nice. How was the planing time? Was it better than the 24? Hope you guys had a great weekend.
IMO, it's easier to pull the whole unit and replace with the B3 instead of just the lower. You'll want the 26s for planing, 28s will have faster top end but I doubt those will be good for planing with a boat load and full of fuel.I’m just going to bolt the lower leg of the B3 onto my B1 upper. In a 22 or 24That’s not bad at all. I might have to invest in one. Thanks for the update
In a 22 or 24
Where do you live. Close to Eastvale/Norco?22… I have a 24 now and it’s a bit sluggish to get going.

I can bring my 22 home end of this month if you wanna swing by and try it out.Not too far away… in the Whittier area.
