A couple basic recipes:

Simply Limeade and Club Soda

or

Squirt (or diet) and Lime

If you want to go lighter: club, lime, splash of sprite (not necessarily a margarita, known as a sweet press)

Old school for me was

1 can of limeade
fill can with tequila and add
1/2 can of Triple Sec
1/2 can of Grand Mariner
1 can of beer

Mix and drink

As I get older, fatter and my stomach bothers me I have to drink the skinny ones.

We have had a few friends and family get pregnant after a night of drinking these.

You could try this for a blended Margie:

12 Ounce can frozen Limeade

Use the 12 ounce can for the following:

1 can good quality tequila (Patron Silver for example)

1/3 can triple sec

½ can fresh lime juice (from real limes, not that juice in a squeeze bottle)

½ can of water

4 cups crushed ice cubes

Garnish:

Coarse salt for rim

4 lime slices

Prep:

Place all ingredients in pitcher and blend on high until smooth. Salt the rims (using lime juice), fill the glass and garnish with lime.

3-2-1

3 shots tequila (2 of silver, 1 gold)
2 shots fresh squeezed lime juice
1 shot simple syrup (sometimes we sub agave syrup and a little water)

Shake with ice and pour into a salt rimmed glass over ice.

Add some sort of orange liqueur is you want. Maybe half a shot.

Not Naked but I just saw a 2 pack of half gallon tangerine juice at Costco. Almost bought it for some drinks. I guess I would freeze one. A gallon of tangerine juice is a lot!

Use tall shot glass - equivalent to 2oz.
1 shot Jose Cuervo Gold tequila (it's been tried with every tequila but always end up back with the cheap stuff)
1 shot Royale Montaine or Gran Gala ( both are orange flavored cognac liqueurs)
1/8 shot Cointreau (brown bottle, not green bottle)
1/8 shot Dr. Swami & Bone Daddy's top shelf margarita mix
Juice of 3 Spanish limes (or key limes)
5 Jalapeno slices

Mix well, pour into 16oz glass full of ice rimmed with cayenne salt
(mix approx. 4 parts salt to 1 part cayenne or to taste)

Only use this tequila if you lost your taste from Covid and have nothing to do for the next 48 hours.

This is how a REAL margarita is made. Keep it simple..... and if your pouring a margarita mix out of a bottle....you wrong.

PS. Like was stated already. Jose Cuervo Gold should be avoided at all costs.

We substitute Triple sec for simple syrup.
And add a shot or two yes cocktail - Cucumber Jalapeno syrup

Two or three grapefruits, peeled and de-membrane'd.
Juice of one lime.
Two shots Anejo Tequila
Splash of Triple Sec
Two cups of ice

Blend away...

Rimmer if desired.

Put equal parts salt and sugar in a coffee grinder (blade type) add a dash of paprika and a dash of cayenne. Blend until very fine.

3 shots of repasado (usually patron or don julio)
1/4 cup of limeaid
1/4 cup of lemonade
1 shot of agave syrup

Blend together or Shake w/ Ice and pour into a salted rim glass with a lime slice attached to rim. I get lots of compliments on this concoction :D

Substitute Licor 43 for half of the mix and you will have a perfect Margarita.
Do not use Cuervo gold. I really like the Espolon silver these days. Don Julio is tasty too.

Believe it or not, we’ve tried every tequila out there and with this recipe, good old Jose gold works the best... try it, you’ll like it!!!

This tells ya pretty much everything ya need to know about Cuervo Gold, and why it should be avoided. It truly is the bottom of the barrel in my opinion. Lots of good tequilas out there for a fair price.

Cuervo Gold is fine for blended margaritas. I would avoid it for margaritas served on the rocks (shaken). My wife’s favorite shaken margarita (cucumber cilantro):

1. Muddle a few slices of cucumber and several sprigs of cilantro in a cocktail shaker with a squeeze of agave syrup
2. Add one oz. of fresh-squeezed lime juice
3. Add one oz. of triple sec (or your preferred orange liquor)
4. And add 3 ozs. of good tequila (I typically use Patron silver)
5. Add ice and shake
6. Salt the rim of a glass with Tajin seasoning
7. Add ice to the glass, pour and enjoy

By the way, this is a double. You can half the recipe, but I find that my wife and her friends go through these too fast, so you might as well make doubles. Also, I usually warn people because, with the right tequila, they are very smooth and have way more alcohol in them than most people realize.

And if you like spicy, substitute muddled jalapeños for the cilantro and cucumber.

1 fresh squeezed orange
1 fresh squeezed lime
1 lime sliced in the pitcher
4 cups limeade
2 or 3 cups of tequila (depending on how she feels she says🤣)

Silver tequila

No triple sec or syrups

All I know is, I tread lightly when she breaks them out!!

This is the way.

Agave syrup is great for iced coffee too btw

Was checking out at Sam’s today, and the lady behind me only had one item. 1800 Margarita mix, which was familiar, but this one had a light purplish hue. Naturally I let her go in front of me, then asked her about it. The checker lady even said everyone was buying the stuff. It was black cherry 1800 mix. Thought to myself it might be worth a try.
