We're in the process of rigging a 26' Howard cat that's never been in the water, but already has gauges and upholstery installed. One of the gauges it has is a Gaffrig mechanical trim indicator. I'm not crazy routing another Morse cable and drilling an additional hole in the transom. Does anyone sell an electric trim indicator that mounts in the same rectangular hole?

Answer is yes! But you still might have to run a short cable just in the bilge. The set up I’m talking about converts a mechanical signal to electrical by using a short cable from the drive/tabs to a potentiometer.

Is it for drive trim? If so isn't there an electric sender and limit switch on the transom assembly? There should be a couple wires in the boat for that or did I read it wrong?

Yes, everything is there on the drive, but the boat was rigged with a mechanical gauge on the dash. I'd like to replace the mechanical gauge with an electric one that utilizes the factory equipment.

What is the round trim gauge for? Looks like two gauges for the same thing. Does the boat have trim tabs? If you are just trying to do the drive trim in a rectangle gauge like you have you can do it wth the mercury trim/tilt switch and Livorsi led guage and their wiring harness. No need for a cable. I did it on my Hallett and combined it with the trim tabs. The trim tabs needed the cable to wire potentiometer.
