I've never liked the handles on this Lagun since the day i got it, they were plated, not solids steel like a Bridgeport, and had this stupid spring lock so they free spin when the powerfeeds are running. To move the table you have to press the handle in to engage it's dog, then you can turn the screws. It would really screw you at times by not engaging when you are in the middle of a direction change between X and Y.
I had enough of them, so i made some new ones.
First handle, pocket cut and now opening up the area between the spokes.
You have to hit each side of the spoke from the opposite offset, so I rough to one edge, then get the other side on a second operation.
Starting to take more shape
Some grip detents now in on one side, counter bored holes for the allens, all radiuses and chamfers on one side complete.
Time to move on to the next wheel's front side, you can see the steel hubs here partially completed (the bottom side of them has a male register that fits into the wheel's center bore), They get Broached for a keyway and tapped for the 6 allens.
Next one going on
Made some Brass hand cranks that free turn
Grip detents on both sides
