You’ll be fine. There are 7 boats in storm slips if that gives you an idea of the number of extra boats that will be on the water.

Someone said last year they had under 40 registered boats.
I don’t think the number will be that high this year.

Between your event, the Eliminator event last weekend and DCB next weekend, MB participation is way down.

It was around 35 boats last year. We'll be in Havasu but doing a trash out on a property I just bought. I had fun at the last one, just lack the bandwidth/desire this year.

Nailed it. Same reason we are home and not in Havasu.
Bandwidth and desire to attend MB was zero. RDP event desire was way higher, but work travel kept me from registering. When I got to the RDP party Friday, I was working with limited sleep and just needed a weekend with no schedule.

This is regatta row, there are one to two events on EVERY weekend in mid sept to Oct.. it’s crazy even trying to attend as many as we can.

I’m taking the weekend off because Jason is a good friend and I don’t want to miss his wedding.. or rather I wouldn’t miss it. I’m actually giving up my own bday and wedding anniversary lol.. which is also on OCT 1.

For some reason though it doesn’t seem like the last year or two Monster Storm has been promoted at all? I’m not sure if that is by design or? Maybe they are putting all their efforts towards DS? Who knows..

I am looking forward to halletts in Havasu and the classic performance boat regatta which will be our next two events which are both on the same weekend.

The back to back regattas is what they said caused the dwindling of registrants. It could be a contributing factor.
I believe she said 27 are registered this year. It’s a good thing that @Jumppack JB, @Nordic35 and the rest of RDP’s ‘Best Party Crew’ will be there! 😂

I'm doing this social media stuff wrong, didn't show how I worked on polycarbonate, didn't take pics of leaving the cactus patch and didn't take pics of my boat in the launch lane! Slow learner. Sea ya on the water.

Think the granddaughter may surprise again this year, as a stilt Walker almost missed the stage, but he did it.

How was Monster Storm? This year, I never really saw anything about it online, other than this thread. Usually it is all over FB also.

I literally haven't seen one peep about it before, during, or after. Strange. There was a lot going on last weekend, but I would think we would see something.

Decent turnout not sure boat count, jimmy played DJ did a good job,my family and another group tied for group costumes, little disruption In the evening (almost physical) all worked out though, my pictures on boat were limited, and granddaughter belting a song won't load to rdp to big.

Someone text me last weekend and said they went out and didn’t really see any signs of a poker run. I was like, “I thought it was in a week or so” but turns out it was last weekend. Zero promotion / advertisement. I know they like to keep it smaller but damn, gotta do some type of promoting.

I think it boils down to a few factors

1) lack of promoting for whatever reason.

2) high fuel prices and inflation is starting to catch up to the average boater - PPP money ran out and the credit card bills from buying fuel in the beginning of the season have come due.

3) other options. Like stated above, priorities for other events runs.

4) kids back in school / sports. Whereas prior to vivid parents would be willing to yank kids out of sports and school for a few days for this run, since most kids have been out of school for a while I think many parents are like, I can’t justify that after we had over a year of go wherever we want whenever we want dude to no kid obligations.

5) now, this is not my personal opinion as I’ve never been wronged by the organizers of DS or MS, but people talk in the industry and I listen. There’s many, many, sponsors and attendees that are less than pleased with the way DS and MS have been run since big Jim left. I don’t think I’ve ever heard more displeasure with organizers of any events in the 25 plus years I’ve been going to various poker runs all Over the country. I think this may be a huge factor. Not just disorganized promotion but poor handling of sponsors and some VIP attendees. Of course some of this can boil down to ego but with multiple people saying the same thing…where there’s smoke there’s fire, comes to mind.

I know for me it is a combination of 5 and 3. Had too many other things going on that look a higher priority.

Also, as I told Christina a couple years ago, her lack of professionalism on a few things agitated me. When a vendor professional states that both organizations have agreed to go separate ways, you don’t respond to that post on FB. She did and her response/responses were very unprofessional. Yes, folks were calling her out and talking shit, but as an organizer/owner YOU can’t respond. You have to stay silent, or it adds fire. Her only response that day should of been “thanks for the years of help, the event would not be where it is without your years of dedicated help” and left all the money BS statements offline. I have told her that is one reason I stopped registering for both events. Have others, but that was what started it. Did DS once since and after that event, my wife said never again due to a couple issues associated with our daughter.

It was very low-key like azfunsun said there was a little incident at the costume party on Saturday night, but nothing big they couldn’t handle and they asked both parties to leave

Seems to me when it all changed from monster bash, to monsterstorm it wasn’t a thing really. I could be totally wrong. We attended at the nautical when Teague was involved, was a decent event. Now it’s just kinda a ehh. For me it seemed like monster bash was a more family oriented deal w “normal” boats, and not a hey my ———- is bigger then ur……. But who knows.

Speaking of which. Teague was the title sponsor for YEARS of both events. Makes you kinda wonder why he’s not any longer. Hmmmmm 🤔🤔🤔

It’s sad to see the event in decline. It was the first event we did in Havasu. We enjoyed the poker run/costume party and met some great people. Hopefully, someone picks it up and turns it around.

I used to participate in the event. Always had a good time. I can think of a dozen reasons why I feel attendance and participation is down but it’s not for me to judge. However, I would start by promoting it better!

This was a fun one that my wife and I attended.
