Arrived today on island of Moorea, for 5 nights, onto Bora Bora for 6 nights..... Wife plans the odd years, this being year 27.... I am very happy, bucket list location for me... and she knew it :)

So, she got us here but didn't really do a lot of research on options while here or in Bora Bora... trust me, we will have fun and I have a tee time for 10am tomorrow :D

But if you have been here and have a suggestion, please let me know..... we are staying in the overwater bungalow in both places... water clarity is amazing.... TIA

The pizza with banana from Allo Pizza is worth a try. There is a tour (Albert) to see some of mountains and another one on the water were you get to swim with stingrays and get a fresh fish lunch but they cook marlin. The guys at the port say dont buy from Albert tours. Albert tours are fine.

Those over water rooms have a glass section of floor and people will kayak or swim under them...

Bora Bora
- take a private Jeep island tour, lots of history on that island
- swim with sharks and sting rays
- visit aquarium (swim through it)
- jet ski tour
- dinner at the yacht club
- dinner at La Villa Mahana - request private table (overlooks entire restaurant). Might be sold out, I had reservations 6 months in advance. If you get that table, they will have you sign the guest book, read through it. You will realize you are at a special restaurant. July 2009 should have a Mr and Mrs Singleton. I like Shaq’s, MJ, Kobe’s, Elton John logs the best

Moorea Activities Center is a great place to take a jet ski and quad tour. The guys who work there are awesome, they will pick you up and drop you off, and the also have an eliminator! It was down with some electrical issues when we were there in December. They have real nice jet skis and you will get to swim with the rays and the sharks. When it’s in season, they will also take you to swim with whales. It was the most fun we had on Moorea.

Awesome, enjoy! My wife wants to go there but that long plane ride... I’d have to stop in Hawaii for a week first.

+1 for swimming with sharks and rays on Moorea. Kids loved it, got past their fear of the deep end of the pool and the Mudsharks in Lake Havasu.

We cruised to 5 Tahitian islands on this ship.

Moorea was super wet and rainy the day we were there but still went on a SxS tour on some pretty treacherous trails...along peaks with cliffs on either side. Fricken awesome!
Bora Bora was amazing, spent two days there. First day we took a private outrigger boat tour around entire island with stops to swim with sharks, stingrays and other incredible views as well as a local style lunch on a private island

Raymond was our guide, fantastic dude that had a love affair with the sealife. Sang to the stingrays before we swam with them.

Second day we rented a pontoon to cruise around the lagoon by ourselves all day. FYI, unless you have a Captains License max horse power you can rent is 4. Yup 4hp.:D
Anyhow beautiful day other than a tourboat almost running into us while anchored.

I would highly recommend the outrigger tour in Bora Bora, definitely one of our highlights. Do a private tour if you can.
Bula!

Only 8 hrs from LAX but some Hawaii in between wouldn't hurt.

Over the past 30 years we've been to Tahiti 18 times. Every time we go we try and hit a new island or return to one we really liked. You'll have a great time. Now if you really want to get away from it all, try "The Kingdom of Tonga" for 2 weeks. It's like Tahiti was 70 years ago.

Return Flights back from Palau was 26 total. We were up for 43 with only a 30 minute doze a few times. Numb.

If you dive I understand from a buddy who went there monthly that there are some great drift dives in the channels that move tides in and out of the reef.

Allo pizza is great! Also check out Snack Mahana on Moorea. They have great lunch sea food dishes. We stayed at the Hilton when we went the food was decent. Rent a scooter on Moorea and cruise around the island

A jet ski tour is pretty epic on Bora Bora. I actually thought Moorea was more beautiful and had more stuff to do. Have fun

Moorea was nice, the resort was good... there was a tough language barrier - hard to find a decent English speaker on the staff... (I travel a lot and expect this at times, but not this bad at what is called a 4.5 star resort)

But standby, yesterday morning we left Moorea and came to Bora Bora Intercontinental Thalasso Spa ... great English speaking staff... the bungalow over the water is 2 or 3 times bigger and the AC cranks :)

The view from the room - from the bed amazing.... Pictures of our neighbor ;) and

Lol, when we first arrived in Pape'ete we wished we'd brought our personal trainer with us, she's French. But overall, and without acting like stuck up Americans, we managed to communicate.
Continue the lifetime memories down there. Amazing part of our world.

Wife is curious what resort you stayed in on Moorea? And if you have the Intercontinental credit card?
She's currently in the midst of planning a 3-4 week trip through Bali and surrounding region for us.:)

Manava in Moorea / intercontinental bora bora Thalasso spa

After getting to bora bora, I would not recommend the Manava....

Don’t have the credit card, we have talked to 3 couples who got better prices through Costco ....

Food is crazy expensive - alcohol too... contact me in about a week and I will have some great ideas.

This might be yours?

We were anchored near the beach in our rental pontoon not far from there towards the open ocean.

You can take the free shuttle to main island to get cheaper local eats. Some local fare and culture.

We always hit the duty free at LAX and bring two 1.75L bottles of Vodka. Every day we go to the bar, ask for a bucket of ice and mix with fruit juice from the local "dis N dat" store.

We bring a small thermos to buffet breakfast and fill with tropical juice, later enjoy with triple sec & tequila. Buy Diet Coke and mix it with our Jack

My wife and I have had great times at Bloody Mary’s on Bora Bora. It is a bar/restaurant that has an unusual interior, especially the bathrooms. Very eclectic and somewhat sensual, since some of the design elements are sexual in nature.

We spent 3 weeks sailing French Polynesia a few years ago. There is NO better feeling than entering through the reef.... into Bora Bora!

I swear.... it looks like a scene from a King Kong movie.

St Regis and 4 Season have the free shuttles to the main island in Bora Bora, all the other results charge. Titanium status at Marriott gets it free as well.
