Cranes are alway fun to move. We move about 3 crawlers a week on average and several RT’s here in SoCal.

How do you move the "crawler" - wide load?

adjustments-jpg.943918

As HBcraig said the crawlers get broken down into multiple loads. On the bigger units the house, car body and tracks are all on lowboys. Some require an assist crane to break out and load on the trailers others can break themself’s down on their own. Depending on the weight that would determine which type of trailer is needed to haul it. Then just order your permits for oversize and over weight.

A few pics from our facility in Rostock Germany. This is where weake our Harbour Cranes, cargo Cranes and Offshore Cranes. The crawler is a 1600 tin capacity crane as is the pedestal crane. They are loading the car body for a 3000 ton capacity crane.

Damn...these pictures put the size of the "wind machines" in perspective, always looked at them heading down the 10 near Palm Springs but I've never been close up.

The very biggest in PS are 80 Meter towers. There are only 6. The rest are 50 meter smaller

th

That wind turbine just looks so sad what does that cost to repair
Hmmm. Good question. Each blade needs to come in on a special "blade lifter" trailer. See pic

Don't know exactly but the crane that is needed would probably be 40K to 50K per day and that doesn't included the load out both ways.

Are you supplying the cranes for the TSMC project in Phoenix?

Two questions, what's a "luffer"? Also, what the hell is the "Sphere" project? A venue type deal? Not a lot of glass. Looks like either a giant marshmallow or something from Star Wars.
Whoops sorry. I put a red dot on the luffer. It's the jib that moves up and down and gives you reach (it luffs). The main boom is the boom below it that will give you your height.

The Sphere will be a new venue site for concerts, events, etc. Supposed to be incredibly state of the art.

Ok, I've heard them called "jibs" or "jib boom". That was also by old guys, and stuff a lot smaller. It's cool to see three big cranes going, means there's a bunch of people making some pretty good money.

The Sphere is being built by Madison Square Garden. The company I work for is tying the rebar for the roof, I would imagine they are using the pictured cranes.

Tying rebar...for the roof. Gotta love it! With rebar, does that mean they're doing steel decking and then lightweight concrete? That has to be one of the bigger spans to do that on if so. Which would also make sense about some giant structural metal.
Sorry, ex-roofer in me still likes the big projects!

Yeah from my understanding is it's all on Robinson decking, and the rebar is also pretty damn heavy. I know they're using #14 rebar for something. I am a little out of the loop though, as I'm in my own little corner of the city on a bridge project, I haven't seen a lot of our guys on other projects in a very long time.

I know there is an entire steel fab yard on site.
