I had the 33' alpine with 400 hp/1200tq.. 40,000lb gwcr

What year, I may have to google that.
400/1200 will get it done. I do not like being "that guy" holding up everyone in the hills.

@RiverDave

According to this, your GCWR is 33k lb.

Wtf does that mean? It's the Combined max amount that the tow vehicle and trailer can weigh.

So.....

You load up your coach completely. Food, water, humans, animals, everything you can think of, and then see what it weighs on a scale. Subtract the scale result from 33k, and the result is how many pounds you can safely tow.

Steve is correct in saying the numbers on the receiver mean nothing.

And keep in mind, the closer you get to the max number, the less time things (engine, trans, brakes, tires) will last.

Walt is doing it right. 👍

Can I get some more popcorn please?

Couple of our neighbors tow there massive cats (dcb m44 and Nordic 43) on tilt trailers with the sports chassis four doors. It’s the M2 chassis like the Seneca but pretty sure those have big blocks. If not Magoos M44 would not make it to powell a few times each summer. I guess the M2 can be ordered with a big block, but not in a motorhome configuration.

NICE, there is no doubt even thought the numbers arent way more than the 360/800 the torques is ALL right off idle they are frikin beasts!

425hp and 1250lbft is a big difference versus anything the 6.7 can put out. And loaf doing its job!

All this discussed herein is why I searched and searched for the coach I eventually found.

2009 Tiffin Allegro Bus 36QSP. 36'10" coach with the 8.9L cummins. Side Radiator. Powerglide Chassis. Disc brakes. Independent front suspension. 150 gallon fuel tank, etc. 45,600lb GCWR. 29,000K dry weight. realistic towing 8-10K lb if needed

The M2 has two "models"
M2-106 and M2-112
The 106 and 112 refer to the overall cab length.

The 106 has enough room for the L9 except the 450Hp rated model which has a different front engine assy requiring additional under hood space
The 112 can be outfitted with any L9 or better yet the big block version is the 505/1800 Detroit DD13.

If you look close the hood has different fender profile and the hood nose sits highr on the 112

Dynamaxs XL super C and renegades Verona LE run the 112 chassis, both have the 450/1250 L9

If a mfr would just build a 32' M2-112 450/1250 we could all tow what-ever wherever we wanted!!
Multible problems... if they did , it would be called a 32'r but measure 35'.... next , you would have a small class c rv living area...thats why I alway go to the class A, most class A's you get to use driver area for living room extra space, and extra cabinets...

Agree on the class A having more living area, we just never hang out inside that much.
The only short 32ish new pusher i have seen is the Newmar New Aire at 33' but it has the 6.7
If someone would do a 32-33 pusher with one small dr side slide and at least the L9 or DD8 that would work.

I do like the option of 4x4 with the M2 chassis

Renegade made 3 or 4 of these with L9 and swivel front seats. I'd break the bank for this. I got a meritor front axle and t case ready and waiting!!!
A little fab work up front for an air ride and this would be close to holy grail status for me anyway.

For me and my family
Pros;
31'
drop down bed
opposing seating
no camp side slide
assume seats swivel seating for 6
decent viewing of TV

Cons
Gas
My fat ass needs a shower with no dimension less than 30"
Not a fan of the full wall slides?

This is the idea, you dont need 37' plus to get a lot but no one wants to option up the smaller units with the bigger power.
I need to be able to tow 8-10K in the mountains at 55-60 without putting a hole thru the floor or replacing trannies.

I moved the tv to the window wall, so now you can watch it from any seat,... pulling 8k I run away from all the diesel pushers..... but my coach weighs probley 15k less .... it'll take more than 400 hhp and 1200 ft tq to out run the hurricane pulling the same trailer,.. that and it has better brakes... I get 8mpg towing, and most of the time run under 2000 rpms,....being only 30',.... the two roof acs keep it 10-15 degrees cooler on hot days... bought it new for under 100k

Lots of value and punch in that 30'

I am still hopeful for a short Super C with real diesel power under 250, its just a matter of time. I hope!!!
