My grandpa’s box ??

This box, was my grandpa’s, no one in the family knows what it was used for.

It previously had shelves in the large section and on the door it has weird little strap with snaps to hang stuff. When closed, the latches have the little lock like a piece of luggage. ??
Any ideas

Interesting. It has a deep top and latches to it. What did your grandpa do for work and fun?

Looks like it might have been some kind of sample case that he could have used for carting goods that he sold. :dunno:

Like posted above, I'm thinking a sales/sample box. In the 30s and 40s, I know auto manufacturers sent sales reps out to shops, with everything from cloth samples to hardware samples. I'm sure other businesses did the same kind of deal...maybe he sold Snake Oil

My buddy growing up's Grandpa left him a portable bar, big hit on spring break down in Palm Springs back in those days......

He was a corrections officer in the jails in NYC.... but a man of many trades, master of some... music, construction.
