My son is "superbowl" bound.......GCYFL

Tomorrow, my son is playing in the Freshman GCYFL superbowl, at SOFI stadium.
These kids have worked their ass off, practicing 5 days a week, 2 1/2 hours per day.

So I just want to let everyone know, I watched Jerry's kids team a couple times last year, it was a rough season last year for those kids but they had fun. What I saw today was a different team, they were out for blood, big blocks, huge holes and getting to the secondary to pick up yards. They fought hard today but came up short in a 2-0 loss. Those kids should hold their heads high and be proud of their accomplishments, nobody expected anything from them and they came out this season swinging punching teams in the mouth, the Newbury Park Steelers will be back to SOFI again. @Bigbore500r great game today.

As for the team I went to watch. Simi Valley Bulldogs sophomore black (my sons brother team), they came in today 5 time Champs and had to play the only team to not only beat them this year in regular season but it's their only loss in 6 years, they pulled off a 12-8 victory, 6 time superbowl Champs, those kids were pissed about the loss earlier in the season and weren't going to leave today without the trophy. Bulldogs took the lead with less than 90sec on the clock.
Probably the best football game I have ever watched

What a day. Our kids played their asses off. We’re the #1 defense in the league, but we don’t have the offense to hang with the team we played. The Rams are easily the #1 offense, by a huuuuuge margin. Our only hope was to keep them off the board. Which we did in a big way!

2-0 final score…

Im happy we kept them to 2 points (the only score they got was a safety, we took possession after holding them at bay on the goal line for 4 downs!). That team can lay it down…The Rams have been putting 30+ points up frequently during the season, in fact they are undefeated for the last 2 years.
I wanted us to win, but we all feared there was a good chance we were gonna get mopped if they started scoring. Keeping them to zero offensive points was a huge deal.

The team was devastated, but it’s to be expected. They’ve been at this for 5 months, 2+ hours a day, 6 days a week. It becomes their entire life…..and then Footballs over suddenly, and the rush of playing on the same field as the LA Rams suddenly gives way to defeat and then the realization that Football is OVER.

Lots of emotion.

Absolutely awesome experience, if anyone is interested in having their kids try youth football I highly recommend the GCYFL. And…of course, I’m partial to the NP Steelers
