Last year we bought my son a 93 Ford Bronco and he decided he couldn't afford the gas since we stopped paying for it LoL. That was kind of the plan. He got him self a nice little car and I took back the old Bronco for me. I've been wanting to do this project for about 20 years now.

We are doing this in 3 stages ( I hope)
Stage 1 Suspension and cage work. 21" in the front and 23 in the rear keeping the 4 wheel drive
Stage 2 new motor and trans, I will need 4-600 hp for this to be fun.
Stage 3 full interior with new dash including all the fun stuff like GPS

It will have heating, air conditioning and a windshield. All the requirements the wife made when we decided to do this

I will post progress pics as we go

The best part is I will have about the same amount of cash in this that people are dropping on there side by sides and it will be street legal

Here is what it will look like when done. Those are 37" project tires

Nice to see some of the cool 70's / 80 4x4's being built. I had a 73 Blazer when I was 19 - 21 YO with full removable top, I miss the hell out of it. Bronco's were the same ilk and you just don't see them on the road anymore. Fun rigs for younger people and or older people that had a lot of fun with them when young. Kinda like muscle cars for baby boomers. We didn't have a ton of options for fast shit when we were shopping for our first cars. Most 40 - 50 YO's today had some sort of cheap 4x4 between 15 and 24.

I think this might be better than doing the side by side thing... My neighbors in Havasu just went from side by sides to an off road rig and his wife is much happier not being covered in dirt.

I'm in for progress. That "after" bronco looks killer

I kinda agree although it probably depends more on your mood. I'm perfectly content to be in the jeep at the back with a beer between my legs.

My Grandma lived in New Mexico by Taos when we were kids. She always had a Bronco and most of the roads we drove when we visited her were dirt. To me at that age life didn't get much better, dirt roads, shooting rifles with my uncles, and going to see Red Dawn in the Taos movie theatre when it came out. Always wanted a Bronco ever since.

Wait until you see a few of the other parts. I used to race off road in early 2000, The race team now enjoys playing with race cars and not racing them. I have a few bullet proof parts being specially made by a mad scientist :yikes He made the spindles

    Im in Cali

Where this truck is registered in California it doesn't have to be smogged.

There are a few trails like the Mojave trail we want to do also

I had a guy from this board ask me about one of those "smogs" the other day. I had no clue where to send him.

Congrats. Looks like you have solid plans. Bronco in my biased opinion is the best choice. We are actually doing a trip this weekend from Indio to parker via dirt.

Here's a couple shots of mine. We just had a big bronco get together in Ocotillo 2 weekends ago. uploadfromtaptalk1445536401388.jpeg uploadfromtaptalk1445536413690.jpg

Loved my bronco. I sold it a few years ago, after beating the hell out of it. for 20 years. never left me stranded. probably going to build another one day, when the wife says, "she is tried of sand getting spit in her face".;)

I spent 6 months looking for a decent 92-95 and they are damn tough to find in usable, non tetanus shot...condition.

So I bought a ZJ instead in which I lost interest in fast.

This Bronco will be unique and bad ass when you and your shops are done.

That bronco has nothing to do with camburg and was completely built by richer racing in oceanside

21 inches of travel on the front TTB will be a engineering master piece, especially if you are keeping the factory AC (but I am guessing you are going some alternate route to the AC/Heater)... Those spindles demonstrate that you aren't going the traditional GFB route! I have built a couple TTB f150/Broncos and they are great even at 16 inches of movement. How many inches over per side are you planning to get to 21? I have never really seen the front axles ever be able to get that much travel without the normal issues, so I am definitely subscribed. Are you going to run a build thread anywhere else ie GFB or FSB?

Johnny is a master with his welder. I had him do some work to my old Tundra. I scratched my head for weeks trying to figure out how to get rid of a wheel rub issue. He plasma cut a section out of the body mount, cut a perfect steel plate, and had both sides wielded on the truck in about 15 minutes.

His old red F-150's not bad either.

I decided to go with King 3.5" bypass shocks all the way around for this. After talking with several people the 3.5" is a much better shock than the 3.0". Friday I am going down to take a look at the progress and should have more pictures

I see about a 4-5 over cut and turned beam, some radius arm mounts and what looks like a pitman arm... but the way the stock frame is plated, I don't see 21 inches of travel? What length coil over is going on the front? The fab work looks incredible... What I see as a pitman arm might be steering swingers, but I don't get the splined holes?

It's coming along nicely and looking great! 21" shouldn't be hard to do with this setup even though it will be 21" of dirty hooker travel! :D

You definitely aren't cutting any corners going with that shock setup either. It's going to be sweet!!!

Thanks for sharing the update photos!
