Nobody names their son Skiziks anymore. Skiziks spelled backwards is still skiziks.

So back when I was a kid I used read the comics in the real newspaper. The Dennis the Menace comic had a little dark haired Italian girl named Gina that always got the best of Dennis. Being Italian I I got hung up on that name. I told the wife that the first daughter had to be named Gina. She was fine with that. Fortunately the first daughter had dark hair. She is Gina Marie. My paternal grandmother was Maria. Her godfather is my cousin Gino. Purely coincidence. Another cousin had a friend named Daniela. We both liked the name so Daughter number two became Daniela Ann. My Maternal grandmother's name was Anna. Daniela's godfather was my buddy named Danny. Some of that was intentional and some was just a coincidence.

Thought about naming our oldest son Sue. Little bullying never hurt anyone. Went with Jackson instead. It was my wife’s maiden name and they didn’t have any boys to carry on the family name. Ended up going with presidents names after that. Madison and Adam for the next two.

It wasn’t the stupid comments or jokes as a kid. I never cared, it never bothered me and was always bigger than most everyone anyway.

What is the pain in the ass is being asked for ID every fucking time you try to do anything. And then the blank stare followed by the apologies for the “inconvenience” because they didn’t believe you when you told them your name.

Or the drunk RDP wives that don’t believe you when you tell them your name and bug you “Tell me your real name.”

Nice seeing you and your wife tonight by the way!

My buddy named his two daughters Misty Dawn and Amber Autumn. The girls are absolutely beautiful women and I love their names. Little hippish but fits them well.

I wanted to name my son Carac, but we got divorced before he was born so I didn’t get to.

(short for Caractacus https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caratacus )

I got the idea from Robert Plant naming his son that. (His boy died very young so maybe it wasn’t a good idea)

I insisted on at least somewhat nor al names and spelling. I always felt bad for the kids in school that had to correct pronunciation of their name or how its spelled or what not. So we ended up with a Kara (Care-a), Bailey, Kaidence, and I gave in a little on the latest one.... Blayke. Wife wanted Blakleigh (Blake-lee) I said no. We compromised with the Blayke and Lee for the middle name which works out even better as that is my Uncle's middle name sho I am pretty close with.

I'm actually a fan of names that are not heard every day. Nothing too crazy but stuff that's different.

Daughters name is Taylor (I call her Tater), Sons names are Finnegan (Goes by Finn) and Beckem (goes by Bex)

Sam Kinison's girlfriend's name was Malika. I always Loved that and feel it is Classy and Exotic vs something like "Corncob"

I'm a Jr and neither my dad nor I go by our given name, Donovan. I'm DJ and he is John. His came about in the navy when they shortened Johnson to John, and it just stuck. When my wife and I had kids I was adamant about not naming my son the 3rd. We went with B names, Brittany and Blake. They each got our middle names, Renee and Joseph.

My name is Richard. I go by Dick for long [emoji106]

I’m a Jr and couldn’t do that to my son. I like short names so my son was named Cole. When my daughter was born we decided to keep with the Cole theme and similar spelling so named my daughter Cloey.

I call it “generation N” with so many names ending in n.

I named mine Irish heritage: Was in between my Norwegian, ex’s German blood lines, plus my Viking ancestors hung out on that island awhile back, lol.
Tarynn for my daughter ; fits well, not too many around. Added an extra N so not to be confused with the boy version with a single N.
Son has an or ending on his name , not as unique but not a Michael either.
Every other boy around me was a Michael growing up in the 70’s, lol

Was Picking the same letter for the kids a tradition? Just curious cause it is on my Dads side for 4 generations so far. If you plan to have a lot of kids then you have to look ahead a little 😁. We stopped at 2 kids so it was easy for us. if we had 6 kids like my grandparents it seems the last kid is a little tougher to name.

Nope, not tradition. Just something we decided on early during the first pregnancy. We didn't find out what she was having so we needed 2 names. And for the second kiddo we weren't going to find out, but during ultrasound accidentally saw little willy. We had already decided on 2 more B names when that happened so it was easy.

We didn't plan on it, but our Son is Anthony, me Alan. Daughter is Kari, my wife is Kathleen/Kathy. Just worked out that way. Wife wanted our Son to be a "Junior", but I said no way. Both our families had Juniors, even the females. No real issues with it, I just didn't want to go that route.

Her family has always been big on passed relative's names. She is named for her Grandmother, Katherine and middle name (Margaret) for her great-great Grandmother Margaret Adair, who was the first Cherokee ancestor born in the west, after the Trail of Tears. Past Surnames are also heavily used as middle names, such as Holland and (no joke) Bowser.

I'm a millennial. When people found out we named our son Ryan James, they were like what? That's awfully traditional and classic. They were in shock. No crazy spellings or any other bullshit you see now so often.

When my sister went to deliver her twins she was in a car accident on the way to the hospital and unconscious for several days after delivery so I ended up naming the kids for the hospital records. When sis finally can to and found out that I had named the kids ( a boy and and a girl ) she was really disappointed that she didn't get the names that she was thinking of. She was OK with the girls name, Daniece but not thrilled about the boy's name Danephew. 😁

Named our son "Anthony". Wanted a traditional Italian name that wasn't Giuseppe, Leonardo, Rafael, or the other TMNT. Wasn't even thinking about "I Dream of Jeannie" at the time. Middle name, Wil, is after his great-grandfather. He's glad we didn't use his full name, "Wilfred".

What gets me is that the hospitals in the hood just hand the new mothers a Scrabble bag full of letter tiles, and tells them to grab a handful.

Best one I saw was a kid named Le-a. I called her "LEE YA" (pronunciation) and she yelled at me and said her name is "Ledasha", "the dash don't be silent"
Is her sister Alotawanda?

Being my legal name is Chester, I can vouch that a name can make for relentless jokes. Trust me, nobody in the past 15 years has been original with a joke about my name, I welcome something new but it hasn't happened yet.

Thats why when my son was born I wanted single syllable and strong, so we eneded up naming him COLE
