My parents are buying a house on the river in Mohave Valley and we'll need a dock. Something used would be great. Looking for something rectangular, maybe 8x16. Any recommendations?

Right after you cross into AZ from Needles, Fusion Concepts on the left has dock looking items in their yard. Looks new and used. I’d start there.

Luke is the only guy I would use. He built most of the docks on Dikes Road. Talent and work ethic is bar none. He has some trick stuff to get the job done.

https://www.fusionconceptsart.com/

This is his work. All docks, handle railings to the pool area and everything else.

We reached out to Fusion and they weren't very helpful, so we're hoping there are other options.

Thanks for the reply

If you were closer I could help you out. We build a lot of dock frames and aluminum ramps for California Custom Docks.

I think Overtons or west marine sells the floats and all hardware, I would think you could buy the stuff and hire a handy man to rig /set it... the handy man would have to be a good one but think that would be doable...

On the river, with the current, don’t you have to drive the poles pretty deep?

I would think so, drive em as deep as you can 2-4 feet deep I would think would be good - depends on the resistance and if any rock. 4 poles I think would be good 2 per side... if concerned do 6 - do 3 per side, I think you need to feel how they go in the ground.
I would do it in 2- 8ft sections for an overall 8x16 then rim the outside with full length PT boards and thru bolt the 8x8 sections together then do the ramp gang plank access ramp

I would go look at some and take a few pics, you’ll need SS hardware

Back in the 80's I had a dock installed on the river in Bullhead City, I think I had to contact the state and the US Army Corps of Engineers as you will need a permit from both.
If I remember they will also tell you the size of the dock you can install.

A friend and I built my replacement dock in my carport with parts I found on the net, stuff laying about the shop and from the hardware store.

I haven't figured out the cost but it was quite a bit cheaper than what others wanted to build me one.

I'll find the builders in Fontana's info. and post it up when I get a chance.

Because wheeler has a boat that is not
Water worthy , so he parks next to the dock under the carport and pretends he is in the river. Docking his boat [emoji41][emoji39]

That's a fantastic job Wheeler. One question- how did you get it into the water? With the decking and all had to be several hundred pounds?

Placed my car dollies under it and rolled it down the street and onto the launch ramp. Once in the water I tied a rope to it and pulled it into place. One man operation on the launching and securing the dock to the sea wall.

I reached out to them as well and I am looking for an alternative. Who did you end up using?
I'm playing with the idea of building my own too.

what is it that you need? friends just had a dock built and his brothers are having two more built. This second group of docks will be less costly than the first.

Cheap or expensive, steel or aluminum? A steel one is getting built now and should be in phoenix for hot dipped galvanizing.

I'll get photos when it comes back. I'll go out front in a bit and take pix of the new one that was installed a couple of weeks ago.

They were my neighbors, wonderful people. They would be good to ask but I don’t think they ever did docks.

Below Moonridge before River Hogans there is a covered lift dock. It used to house a G23 .I watched this being built and I spoke to owner and they do nice work, not cheap. He was good with working with the army corp too. I think his name is on the dock somewhere.

Sounds good, thanks. Aluminum, expensive, well built and made to last. Right now I only have one quote and I want to see what other options are out there.

I did not ask what this dock cost. I'm sure it will come up in conversation at some point in time. The two that are getting built now I'll get pix when they are done or when I go back to the dock builders.

We ended up going with Fusion. My dad called them 1st and initially felt they weren't very helpful. I called them and had the opposite experience. Spent a lot of time on the phone with me and ended up selling us a used dock installed for a great price.

Unfortunately that dock caught on fire when a battery failed in the dock box. After that we had them build us a custom dock with two seadoo ramps. Everything came out great

Thanks for the reply. That sucks about your dock.

Fusion was very response and quick to get out and quote me. I’ve heard good things about their work. Sounds like they might be the one to go with. I need to get out and look at a few.

My neighbor in Tangerine Terrace told me he built most of the docks on the AZ side. Randy is his name but not sure he still does it.
