I'm right in the middle of restoring an old flat bottom that I bought a couple of years back. The v-drive that came with it is an old casale that is straight with no angle. It puts the drive shaft at a very big angle. The boat is just a cruiser with a 430 lincoln engine, so I'm looking for an old v drive with 9 to 12 degrees. Just wondering if anybody is selling something like that?

Thanks

You have what's called a Casale top loader parallel drive.

You can find 10 and 12 degree split case Casale and Hall Crafts gear boxes for sale on craigslist and the "parts spam" section of performance boats forum. :thumbsup

Did you find a V-Drive?
I have a 12 degree Casale split as well... with an in/out lever. I'd part with it....

This one is a 12 degree Casale V-drive unit freshly rebuilt by JJ at Beverfab
It has a gear ratio off 1.18 currently installed
1 1/4 Input Shaft and 1 1/8 output shaft
This unit was built for use with a transmission or velvet drive as it has no in-n-out provision.
If you know what you are looking for, this will not disappoint
Only $500! Fresh!

Sounds like a good deal.. I'm not super educated on building v-drives, but why a different size output shaft then input? Seems like the weak link would be the input now?

I restore old flattys, I pick up hulls all the time that are stripped, I can probably rig about 4-5 old flattys, I would rather save the parts then ebay it all away...

plus I do a little polishing..

Wow Johnny, what a polishing job!! What gear ratio is in that old style casale you have? It should be stamped on the side. I am looking for something smaller than 14's. thanks, Marisa

It came out of a Schiada Cruiser with a Velvet-drive. The original owner just purchased it back to build another boat he picked up.
