Need an early Ford Explorer guru

I have a 2001 Explorer that needs new window regulators. Not only is the damn thing mounted behind the speaker, it looks like you have to cut the metal apart to get to it and then weld it all back together. Is this right?

I doubt any cutting is involved, I replaced one on my expedition, 2006, it was an absolute pain in the ass. I recommend going to the junk yard and experimenting on one their, plus you will have your part for about 5 bucks.

I've replaced a lot of them, not in an exploder, but never really difficult. Pull everything from the panel, tape the glass all the way up and unbolt the whole assembly. Go on Rockauto.com order the whole assembly, don't attempt at getting just the motor.
