Northern Los Angeles County. We have a carport that is enclosed on three sides. Now we would like to close up the front. I’m thinking two swinging doors built to match the carport that is 24’ wide and 12’ tall. The company that installed it doesn’t do it, one local company doesn’t do anything but fab anymore. Anyone do this kinda work or know anyone? Thanks in advance.

Your best bet is to get a carport shad. Like a trap. That’s what I’m going to do on my rv one. It’s going to be like a curtain so to speak.

Recently my brother had a similar garage put up at the river The structure appears the same fromwhat I can tell from memory. I'll try to find the contact info. I'd ask him but after the last ten times asking, I think he's getting tired of answering. I believe I sent the info. to another person here via pm. I'll look for it.

@Wheeler that looks expensive. I should be about 4-500 all said and done with mine. My big one is for the 5th wheel. Front gets hit with sun for about 2-3 hour but me no like it. I want it in the dark.

Where are you located? I am in Acton and built my own. When I ordered my building I just added in a few extra sheets of the siding and made the the door frames out of
1 1/4 tubing. Yours would be even easier since the top of your door is flat.

Really we are trying to keep the birds out so a shade wouldn’t be effective

I’ll give them a call. The original installer of ours didn’t want anything to do with helping me out.

I was in the same exact spot.

Anyone have a ballpark price what a 24’ x12’ roll up would cost?

We have sold and built a number of these buildings. Swing doors need a heavy jamb to carry the leveraged weight. You could do a slider they just don't seal reall well.

Best as others noted is to do a roll up. End walls typically are 2x2 framing with a cform opening to mount your door guides and top mount door braces.

Call versatube they might sell you the materials. PM me if you need sheeting.

that isnt sitting on concrete? hows it anchored?
interested to see how much this is going to cost and how much of the opening you will lose with the door that big and how much more bracing they will have to add.

Footings with hold downs. Got my first estimate next Wednesday. We’ll see.

I am afraid to guess, but I paid 5k a year ago for a pair of 12x14. Turnkey installed with warranty. That was for a building engineered for the doors. Spanning 24 feet won’t work on that metal without some improvements

So here is the update. Called some roll up door companies and even though it was doable because of covid, doors were not available. Found a guy to build me two door frames. He installed those and I got panels that matched from the company I bought the carport from. Me and the wife installed the panels yesterday.
