Looking to purchase a used (new to me) boat for under 10k. Looking at something like can pull the toys/tubes and is big enough for a family of 5. I was looking at this 1998 Galaxue open bow ski boat and i couldnt find any reviews or opinions on the boat. Does anyone know a model name/number or anymore info on this? Thanks in advance

If you're referring to Galaxy that were built or sold in the 80s in north L.A. County area, family runabouts, small power.....

A friends dad had one

I'll be kind and say it was less than average quality. He had a lot of poorly construction issues....

Don't know if they improved over time and I did see a ton of them during that era.

They were a very reasonable priced, much like the small Bayliners of those days but more appealing colors and graphics

That is if you're talking the same Galaxy

They were a "chopper gun" boat, built for a low price point, lots sold, it was a way to get a custom built boat at a price closer to the Bayliner range. Factory was on the side of the 5 in LA. Quality was pretty low. I think you would be better off finding a boat from a more reputable builder......lots of them out there for $10,000.

I currently have a 89 21' four winns with a 5.7 and its been a good boat up until last season. Looking to upgrade a bit. Was looking at mid 90s to 2000 wake or open bow boat. Looking at a 1995 tige and possibly a 2000 chaparral deep v hull. I have a 1 year old so im thinking the deep v hull would be the more comfortable choice since we often frequent parker and pirates cove/havasu

This my Galaxie 18' Starion, it's also a 1998. I too couldn't find much info on the boat when I bought it 4 years ago, but it was such a good deal I bought it any way. I can tell you that it's a pretty solid boat, and I haven't had any issues with it.
