Anybody ever had one of the prestolite square reservoir pumps apart?

Took mine apart cause it was acting up. Now don't know where the checkballs go.

Pump now runs in both directions. Works fine one direction but not fluid comes out the other direction.

Found this also. Tried to follow it but mine is different. I have 2 of those needle and seat dojiggers and only 3 checkballs.

Prior to me taking it apart it would go up with no issues. Going down it would act like it was already down. The pump would labor and no movement.

Now just running the pump with nothing hooked to it.

And I just had a thought, the supply coming from the filter, is blocked of depending on the direction. Maybe I need to use an old line and loop it. Im wondering if right now since I don't have anything connected it has no supply to pump. It seems it works in one direction as a push pull but I could be wrong

Do you have a service manual for your TRS drive?

I was hoping for the free one to load online for you but it don't seem to be on my end...Maybe your end will load it up for you, http://boatinfo.no/lib/mercruiser/manuals/mercruiser5.html#/0

Haven't checked just yet but that pump might be in here as well, http://boatinfo.no/lib/mercruiser/manuals/mercruiser4.html#/0..., http://boatinfo.no/lib/mercruiser/manuals/mercruiser4.html#/160

The two following links would cost about $20.00 to download

Mercuiser service manual number 5 part number 90-12935 1085 fits your TRS drive which you could buy a book on eBay to if desired, https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fr...&LH_TitleDesc=0&_osacat=0&_odkw=90-12935+1085

You'll be looking for Section 5 - Power Trim as they have two styles.
A - Oilydne Power
B - Prestolite Low Pressure Power Trimp Pump
C - Prestolite High Pressure Power Trim Pump
D - Trim Cylinders
E - Dual Power Trim Control

after reading the flow diagram in the first link, the down is a push pull, it pushes fluid from the up lines to the down lines. so right now with no lines hooked up, i have no fluid to pull from.

Sounds like the service manuals are helping you out better with this project?
Edit: And you can see the info within the first link which would be service manual number 5? It doesn't load up to where I can see it on my computer is the reason I ask. http://boatinfo.no/lib/mercruiser/manuals/mercruiser5.html#/0

Yes they are. Tomorrow I'm going to use an old hose and loop the flow back onto itself. Then I'll really know whats up

So it was a push pull setup.

Hooked everything back up. It still had the original issue. Everything is new except the valve body. I pulled the distribution block off bottom of out drive. I then removed the new lines that go to the pump. I used old lines and hooked them to the pump and the distribution block.

No issue.

So one of my new lines must be collapsing. Now to figure out which one and replace it
